Tama. Switch on the lights, kahit in park light mode lang and the rear lights will light up... not yung hazard light, which is used to warn other drivers of an emergency condition.

But as to those who modify their tail & signal lights (smoked, or kaya from amber signal light to clear) because they "look cool" or are just plain "galit sa pera", the danger's self inflicted. The engineers who built your car designed those lights for a purpose- so they'd be visible meters away either in the dark or bright sunlight.

Somewhat related din: even when entering a tunnel/underpass, I switch on my headlights kasi:

1) If there's an open manhole, or big rock (yes, meron minsan), I stand a better chance of seeing it earlier; and
2) Para makita ng mga baliw na naka SUPER dark tint na may katabi/kasunod sila.


Alam mo naman kasi attitude ng mga kamote dito sa Pinas: "Ah, magaling akong driver, no need for such precautions. Pang mga bagitong driver lang yan na takot na takot mabangga".

Switching on the headlights (or even just the fog lights) momentarily isn't too much a bother to do. A smart driver would know why. An idiot on the other hand, would endanger themselves & others just because of misplaced pride.
