But I would want to see numbers.

it spewed lots of black smoke during the not-even-high-yet-rev emissions testing.

i don't know if it was the seller or the new owner, who was having it tested.

For PUV, yes. Walang bumabagsak na jeep.

Yung private, i had an old corolla that failed. Took me 3 attempts to pass the test, after tune up, carb overhaul, change spark plugs, oil change. Surprisingly, it passed flying colors aftee i adjusted the tappets.

there has to be a better way to test diesel engines.
soot normally deposits on the inside surfaces of the exhaust system.
at high rpm, there is excessive gas and vibration in the exhaust tubes, causing the deposited soot to loosen and to be expelled, with dramatic visual effect.
the engine fails the test, not because it is combusting badly, but because the tambucho is full of soot.
i used to have the exhaust piping cleaned by a high pressure long hose in the gas station, but not anymore. pumapasa naman...

a friend once had his engine overhauled. somehow, the old engine oil leaked into his exhaust system.
after the engine was put back together, it couldn't pass the emissions test. apparently, the oil in his exhaust was causing high pollutant readings.
he had to replace his exhaust system, to pass.
