i think thats selfish of them, hindi lng naman sila ang nahihirapan sa buhay, hindi lng sila ang nagkaka-uga-uga kakatrabaho. and surely hindi lng sila ang pagod going through philippine traffic everyday.

When you're practicing zipper merging in a heavy traffic situation but the vehicle on the other lane seems hellbent on not letting you through when it's your turn and you were able to get in simply because of superior positioning and/or inattentiveness of the other car. Then the other car aggressively and desperately attempts to get ahead of you despite almost counterflowing on his end, even to the point of almost hitting you.

Yeah, I'm looking at you, the imbecile behind the wheel of the blue Isuzu pickup who stuck a Suzuki logo and an MD sticker (I pity your patients if you ever truly are one but I doubt it) on his back window and try-hard Euro plates, this past Sunday on Xavierville. It's your ilk that makes driving hellish than ever in this country. May your genital warts be as large as your ego.

Just for fun, for 3 days at every traffic light I happen to stop at, I timed how long before cars in front of me start moving when the light turns green.

    Result: private cars: 4-8 seconds
    PUVs: 8-10 seconds
Average time of green light: 40 secs.

If I was in front, I would be mid-intersection in 2 seconds.

Lesson: majority of driving public are stupid, idling away 20-25% of the green before moving. If it takes 4 secs to cross an intersection for a 40 sec. Green light... Only 7-8 cars get to pass instead of an optimal 9.

Solution: remove idiots from the road, support better public transport 😄

I noticed this too. If more drivers were conscious on moving immediately and getting up to speed (within safe bounds of course) upon a green light you can add maybe 2-3 more cars who can cross before the light turns red. In Singapore, i noticed that in the intersections, they really accelerate when it's time to go.

Noticed this too pero I think some kasi use their phones while naka stop sa stoplight kaya hindi agad napapansin na nag green yung stoplight.

Although siguro sa 4 secs na delay I may have an explanation for it. To start, mahilig ako gumamit ng hand brake kapag matagal yung stop and manual lagi dala ko. Assuming na manual yung nasa harap mo, let's say it takes a second or two to notice na nag green na yung light. Then it would take another two seconds to step on the brake pedal, release the handbrake, shift and accelerate.

As for PUVs, I noticed sa mga UV driver mahilig sila magbilang ng pera kapag nasa stoplight. Mahilig din sila makipag chitchat sa radio nila...

Kaya it helps if all stoplights have a timer installed in it.

In a way every driver is anticipating already the green.

I thought by now all traffic lights would have timers installed already. It's a really simple but effective improvement to traffic lights.

What's funny are the timers that don't know how to count. I've seen timers stuck on 1 and the light won't change as well as timers which haven't reached 1 and the light changes.

In my mind... Millennial din mga timers. 😂

In my limited travels,- tayo lang ang mga drivers na consistently ay palaging "taking our sweet time when we start to roll and cross the intersection"... Walang respeto sa mga drivers sa likod.... Sa ibang bansa,- mabilis ang pag-cross ng intersection kaya napa-flush out ang mga sasakyang nakapila... [plus of course dito,- may mga nakaparada sa mga intersection, may mga sumisingit na padyak, tricycles at motor and individually and collectively, their actions worsen the situation]

corners, either before or after crossing, are among a PUJ's favorite and more profitable areas of getting customers.
sinasadya nilang maghintay tumawid just before red light, and then wait again at the corner after the crossing... sorry na lang yung nasa likod niya.

maybe we need megaphones in our cars, yung katulad ng sa police car... so if someone needs waking up/guidance...
we just turn it on and say: "oh, go na! move it move it!" or if theres a "slow fast car": "hoy! [insert car/model here] lakas lakas ng makina mo! gamitin mo naman!" medyo OT hehehe...

    Streetlights too.

Was driving at a rather quick pace on NLEX from Angeles to San Fernando this evening as we were catching S&R before it closes (and i wanted to get a tire vulcanized at the Tire Center as well). I was using the 1.3 econobox of my in-laws and this 2.0L car i caught up with signalled me to go ahead. I tapped my horn to thank him when i passed and went on. I slowed down my pace as the traffic bunched up then i noticed there was car tailgating and flashing. I switched to the slow lane when there was an opening and the guy continued to stick to me and flash his lights again; I realized it was the same car who let me pass earlier and seems he was egging me. WTF. I did not speed up anymore as it's unsafe with the vehicle volume, and he eventually went ahead (driving quite haphazardly if i may add, even passing on the shoulder). I let him go way ahead as my exit was nearing, and I definitely have no time for such games.

I don't know if he wanted a race or whatever (and i was in an obviously slower vehicle), but geez indeed.

My cousin has a cuckoo (diagnosed with mental condition) Uncle who did this in the 80s. He used a megaphone on the airport arrival area while driving his gen 1 Pajero. We were all so embarrassed and good thing I didn't ride with him. I never forgot that incident. Hahaha.
