Anyway, this is my hobby since 1982, and a lover of cars since 1972.

Mahal talaga ang US kits. Pagdating dito di pa exact fit. Gagawin mo pa din para lumapat. Tapos, malata pa.

OT: is it just me or do there seem to be more classics on the road?

This is the photo of the 460 set back 10 inches to the rear and with 4 turbos in their permanent position. The cross over pipe for the exhaust to balance the exhaust impulses will be installed shortly.

This is the picture of the custom fabricated 1.75" headers that feed the two turbos of the passenger side. See, there are no more shock towers. The installation of the twin intercooler follows. Each intercooler will service two turbos.

This photo shows the hood close and the 4 turbos fit nicely inside it.

This photo shows the front end suspension of the C4 Vette already installed. The A-arms are forged aluminum. Notice there are no more shock towers. I will replace the fiberglass leaf springs with coil over shocks to ease fine tuning of the suspension. Rack and pinion is also installed.

This photo shows Eleanor with the independent front and rear suspension from a C4 Vette. It is awaiting for her new set of tires. 275/40/17 front and 315/35/17. To fit the wide tires, another radical change to the fenders will be done because using flairs alone will not look good.

    good day.

    below is another philippine ELEANOR.

she needs a rear suspension swap and steering assembly (tie rod ends, etc.) parts.

the rear leaf springs are so soft she swings at high speeds and the tires hit the wheel well when going over less then perfectly smooth roads.

the steering is very loose with about 3 inches of play in the steering wheel. i went to rapide some time back and they showed me the underside which wasn;t too pretty. lots of parts need to be replaced in the steering assembly to make the ride tighter.

my question is, can anyone out there help?

    thanks.

For the steering, it is time to replace it with rack and pinion. The gearbox of the early Mustangs are beyond repair. Even if you repair it, the handling will be very different from the rack n pinion. Best type of rack and pinion is the dodge intrepid unit, the same one use by unique. Don't use toyota or any Japanese unit fot that matter. Japanese units a are made to turn skinny tire. The thin tie rod shaft will eventually fail if they are used to turn huge Muscle car tires.

As for the rear end. The wheel is too wide for the wheel wells. There are four solutions without replacing the tire.
    1. Buy a pair of air shocks, inflate it till you get the desired clearance.
    2. Buy a coil over shock( they are avaliable for Mustangs, I think I still have a pair hidden somewhere)
    3. Increase the length of the shackles, but connect the shackles with a long pipe and instal panhard rod to avoid tail movement.
    4. Do a flair for the rear end, while removing fender material to gain clearance.

Turbo is right....replacement to a rack and pinion is an absolute must especially if you want the feel and response of today's cars. One place that's done conversions is Jimmy Barleta's shop over at 110 Molave St. Proj. 3, QC. Tel nos 913-7665 & 433-2243. I've been to his shop and saw the mods he did with a 67 Mustang and his own Studebaker roadster. Hardly any play on the steering. I plan to take my pony over there once the painting and mechanicals are done. By the way, the price quoted for the conversion was still cheaper than buying the bolt on from Flaming River.

Turbo, great idea on the air shocks. I have the same problem with rear end sway despite the previous owners' solution on the shackles. The next question is where to get the air shocks?

For a pair of air shocks, go to Ed-Al's at Dau Marina Plaza.

They always have a pair stashed in their place.

Yes the rack and pinion will work, but the weaving of the front will only be minimized.

That is why Ford eventually used the Mustang II set up. The Mustang II set up is a more rigid design compared to the shock-towered first ge. The shock tower flexes with the road, that is why the Monte carlo bar was designed for it.

If you want stable and comfortable ride, go rack and pinion and Mustang II front end. Short shackle, panhard rod and stabilizer bar in the rear end(this is the cheapest alternative).

The car is a little dusty because it has not been rubbed yet. But this car will be ready in about two months.
