twice palang ako nakakakita ng focus hatch sa road. Focus sedan, same as basti, Optra 1.8 mga 3/week, sentra 180gt last akong nakakita last month pa ata. MX lancer madami dito sa dagupan.

halos pareho tayo ng napansin. we noticed a diff. heaviness but solid feel on its doors when we first tried to open it. ride quality is almost close to the new accord tho' legroom is a bit cramped but still tolerable for pinoys' height. as of friday night, sold out lahat ng hatch sa ford global and even yung display unit nabenta din. agent promised us 1 week for our reservation sana umabot this coming long weekend.Originally Posted by niky

Well, CAMPI counts current sales. I see more 180GTs and Optra 1.8s than Focuses (Focii?), BUT, as I said, these are previous sales.Originally Posted by basti08

Sold out? Grabeh...![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Just my 2 sentimos ...
It's true that the Ford name has not been equated with quality autos for a
long time (if ever). It's even earned the moniker FORD = Found On Road Dead.
But the Focus is different. First, it finds its roots in WRC (much like the
Subaru WRX and the Lancer Evolution series). I'm sure the commercial Focus
is a much detuned version of the WRC version, but I'm hoping many of its
subsystems remain intact. The Duratec 20 engine is a pretty good engine.
One other thing to consider is that in 2005, the Ford Focus came out on top
in its class in the independent Consumer Reports magazine. CR is known to
never take advertising money from manufacturers and their reputation as an
independent, high-quality reports outfit is one they're careful to maintain.
The factors they consider include performance, maintenance, cost.
I think it's a great car. It's actually my second choice for cars when I was
in the market for one.
it's 58% of a really tiny pie (i take it that by "segment", they meant the 1.8-liter-engined compacts)
the clincher is, of course, that the 1.8-liter versions of the Altis, Sentra, Optra et al all have 1.6-liter variants that are volume sellers.
Comparing model for model (as is more appropriate, rather than insisting on the antiquated engine-displacement segmentation), the Focus of course lags waaaaay behind the Altis and company in sales.
But don't let the sales numbers fool you, the Focus is a better car than practically all of its rivals, imo.
no remote hood, fuel and trunk release really bugs me, it just destroys the otherwise excellent appeal of the focus
the Focus is very teutonic. very German. nice car. but something is lacking... maybe apeal? not sure.
What do you mean by "remote"? Do you mean an electronic remote opener like on a key fob? If so, I don't see a lot cars with hood and fuel door releases. There's not as much use for a remote hood and fuel door opener as there is for passenger and trunk. I find the trunk release pretty useful, though. Specially when I'm coming in bringing groceries.Originally Posted by BlueBimmer
i think what BB means is a manual knob or lever thingamajig inside the car that you pull or whatever to release the hood, fuel or trunk like almost in any other car you can think of.Originally Posted by richip
AFAIK, the Focus has none of those.
yep, more appropriate term would be trunk, hood and fuel cover release.Originally Posted by basti08

the emblem on the grill can be opened to reveal a lock in which you have to insert the key if you want to open the hood. imagine opening your hood with a running engine? and that emblem just says 'take me' to your suking banawe 'resellers'Originally Posted by richip

 Seems there are two philosophies with regards to the number of keyholes outside of cars nowadays. My car has only ONE (1) keyhole: on the driver's door. The other doors have to be opened either via remote or by latches inside the cab. Then there's the Focus which seems to have keyholes everywhere. So you need an extra key to pop the hood while the engine's running??Originally Posted by BlueBimmer
Who's to say which is better.
i know someone who owns a 05 Accord with mechanism same as yours....Originally Posted by richip
it seems easier, even a trunk release in the keyfob...nice touch.
It's not a big deal in the Focus' core market, Europe. People are used to externally operated mechanisms, as they're used to self-service gas stations. (Even the Jazz has an externally opened gas door). I agree that it's a bad idea to have a latched grille logo... I can hardly count the number of times someone has tried to steal the hinged logo off the back of our Sentra... and that had a sturdier hinge on it.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
well maybe ford sees these things differently, or baka thats the quirks of euro cars coz the bimmer also has weird fuel cover mechanism that has its own actuator lock that moves in conjunction with the power door locks. i think cos it has no interior remote release kaya it has fuel cover power lock, still weird for me.
