yes blame its slow sales to its flashy sibling mazda 3.
i have yet to drive and see it up close. wala bng test drives carlo?![]()
Test drive of the Focus hatch are available this weekend, Oct 15-16. At selected dealerships like Global City (Fort), Ortigas, etc.
we test drove the Focus 2.0 hatch this afternoon c/o Ford Global City (formerly Ford Makati). IMO, parang Mazda 3 2.0 din. I like the engine sound too. The steering is good and very responsive.

We test drove the car last Sunday at Ford alabang. My wife and daugther loved the white color.
The engine was smooth and quiet. The AC was cool. The steering was spot on. Space is good. I like this car. We ask for a 30% and 50% dp. pag 30 it will fall at 16.4K/month for 5 years. Sa 50% it will be 11.7K at month. I think we will go for the 50% dp. That is if we can sell our Carnival.
My impression of the tranny is that the auto is good and responsive. However, I still need to get used to driving the sport shift on curves so I can't give more data on this. Most of the time naman is city driving commute from las pinas to alabang so I think driving at D will be fine. I just miss the total control of driving a manual tranny.
This is close to having a Euro car without the P2M price tag. In my opinion. Also if you convert the 988K in dollar tis just over $17K. Just right lang para sa akin.
I was also in the opening at Shangrila last friday. Grabe trafic sa makati!!!! medyo late na ako so hindi ako umabot sa EB sa starbucks.

Sayang nga... wish I had enough... I really believe the Focus shouldn't be compared to the 3, but to the Volvo S40 and Audi A4... it's really a classy car.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Ganda ng Focus, nakakita ako kulay blue. Ganda rin ng commercial ng Focus 2.0 Sport... Displays teh WRC roots.

(cheapo materials) and the reliability of any ford car is really suspect these days. it can be fun to drive though.
but it is kind of a stretch to be comparing it to a volvo s40, much less an audi a4.
of course we can compare it with the MZ3 and the Volvo S40. after all they share the same basic C1 Platform. but in the end due to different suspension, engine tuning and outside shell it looks very different. but the ride isn't that far-off each other.Originally Posted by niky
Even Audi and VW have their share of "bad-plastic-days". The build quality, or what I've seen of it in testers, on the Focus is pretty good, and few of the materials are really wince-worthy.
It's the overall ambiance of the car that's striking. You don't need to tell me about build quality, I drive a Lynx RS, and though I love the car to death, I'll be the first to admit that the interior and sound suppression could use some work... hell, a LOT of work. The Focus, on the other hand, feels more solid and Germanic than any Japanese sedan I've ridden that costs less than 1 million. The closest you can get to that feeling is in the new Accord or Camry, both of which are a size larger and much more expensive.
I've just seen the 2.0, and I think the fabric inserts in the leather are just right for a car with sporty intentions. Still, it's a more sombre place to be in than the sedan, and the hatch space is disappointingly small compared to my cousin's Mazda 3. Also, I can't help feeling that there's less sense of occassion from the driver's seat than the Mazda 3, although the rest of the interior is a much more comfortable place.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
From the Philippine Star Motoring Section yesterday (Oct 28, 2005)
"...On its second month of retail, the Ford Focus 1.8l has again dominated its segment. With a market share of 58 percent in the month of September - as reported in the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philiippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). Ford Group Philippines is encouraged by the Focus' strong customer acceptance..."
Well, honestly, I almost fell my chair reading that press release?. Funny they did not release figures representing actual number of units sold or even figures from the competition.
Well, today I managed to see (in my case) the first Focus hatch driving by PriceSmart at the Fort. Then again, it could be a test unit from the Ford dealer just a street away since it came in the same shade of blue as what fellow tsikoteers test drove a few weeks ago.
who is competing in the 1.8L segment?..the altis, sentra, optra, lancer? how many new units have we seen roaming around too.. and the focus hatch is a 2.0 so di siya kasama ahihihi
Hmm... against the Sentra, Optra and Lancer, possible ngang 58% yung Focus... I hardly see any of those around, and anyone who would've bought one has already done so.
As for the Toyota 1.8, I don't know... maybe anyone who was going to buy one has done so already... after all, it's been over a year sine its launch, and my friends and relatives with 1.8s bought them right away.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
well, thats what mr. Luie de Buncio told us during the Focus hatch launching. Nagtinginan nga kami ni mbt nung sinabi nya yun. He told me that yung mga buyers ng Camry and Accord went down to the segment and bought the Focus instead.
Saw a red Focus parked in Lingayen Municipal hall a while ago.
eh CAMPI naman ang nag release ng report... why bother questioning it since it is an the independent monitoring body of all car manufacturers & distributors here...
no doubt about the campi reports... though the figure might really be small.
i see 1-2 Focus a day...3 is the max...
have seen lancer 1.8 once last month, a sentra 180gt once last 2-3 months ago...
and an optra LT........teka...kelan na nga ba yun? ;p LOL
