Yowzah. If Ford could only produce nearly as many as they could sell, they'd be selling... a lot.

Low price + modern tech + probably the most stylish vehicle in its class in India = high sales.

In India, vehicles under 4-meters fit a lower tax bracket (this is also the reason why Suzuki-Maruti came up with the funny looking Swift Dzire almost-sedan).
The sub-4 meter long EcoSport (excluding the external spare tire) is actually priced lower than the equivalent current gen Fiesta sedan in India (Fiesta hatch is currently not sold in India).

In the Philippines and most other markets, the EcoSport will most likely be priced slightly higher than the closest equivalent Fiesta.

According to Ford Philippines, pre-launch activities for the EcoSport will begin by the end of the year, coinciding with Job 1(when production in Thailand begins), it's expected to arrive here sometime in early 2014.

Another nice feature too is its 550 mm (21.65 in) water wading capability, not bad for a small car-based crossover.

Odd I believe I see one around the Venice Piazza area every now and then. I thought it was on sale already until I dint see any on display in the Ford showrooms. I think it was a silver colored Eco.

It should have no effect on the "ASEAN" markets since the ASEAN EcoSport will be made in Thailand (production begins late 2013).

The Indian EcoSport is made at Ford India's Chennai plant.

Most probably that is a Ford Territory which looks similar in front with the Eco.

The Territory is right-hand drive only, it's probably an imported 2013 Escape.

Our EcoSport (ASEAN model) will come from the plant in Thailand. EcoSports in India are made in India.
According to Ford, pre-launch activities will begin end of this year (about the same time Thai production begins), expect it to be launched here sometime early 2014.

The EcoSport was already added on the local Ford website as a future model.

Initial engine for the ASEAN market will be the same 1.5 liter Ti-VCT gasoline engine found in the Fiesta (EcoSport shares many components with the Fiesta)

If this shares the same chassis as the Fiesta, then the cabin space will be comparable to the Fiesta and others in the subcompact segment?

Longer wheelbase, taller cabin. So space is actually much better.
