I hope they have a low end variant with less or no chrome garnish at all.

You mean the chrome grill accents and fog light trim?

I'm not sure which models they'll sell here but more or less this is how the middle trim level looks like.
It has no fog light chrome trim....

The base model (Ambiente?) loses all chrome trim and fog lights, has steel wheels and black side mirrors and door handles.

PS: Chinese spec EcoSport shown above, ASEAN trim will probably be similar.
I still haven't seen the official photos of the lower trim models of the Indian and Euro spec EcoSport.

Now that's more likely likey. And More budget to upgrade the wheels.

    Yes, the Innova is taller.
The EcoSport is about the same height as the previous gen Forester.
EcoSport overall height with roof rails: 1696 mm

Previous gen Forester overall height with roof rails: 1700 mm

Not really, compared to the Innova, the difference of the EcoSport's width and height is greater.
    EcoSport
Height with roof rails: 1696 mm
    width: 1765 mm

    Innova:
    Height: 1760mm
    Width: 1780 mm

No prices yet, I think its still too early.
    From Ford Philippines' FB page:
We look forward to starting our pre-launch activities by the end of the year, coinciding with Job 1. Safe to plan for early 2014
    Stay tuned.

I just hope Ford would start using a simpler AT than the unreliable DCT they are currently using. Far too many horror story already. Not healthy.

The EcoSport will use the PowerShift transmission.
Press release for the ASEAN EcoSport: http://www.ford.com.ph/about/newsroo...=1249008712676

I think the issue about the PowerShift transmission was blown out of proportion. Ford has been making improvements by giving the PowerShift transmission software upgrades.
Online pics of the Ecosport and facelifted Fiesta also show that they will have +/- manual shift function via a rocker switch on the shifter.

I don't think Ford plans to mate the less fuel efficient torque converter automatic with the 1.5 Ti-VCT engine.

    Sounds like a winner.

It'll appeal to the yuppies who have Car-B bucks but SUV-C ambitions. Just the kind of thing that'll make it an "it" car among the young and trendy. No doubt the Bluetooth & Voice Control thingy will draw the tech-savvy too...

It'll also do nicely for the ladies with >P1M budget for a small easy-to-drive car, but who want the SUV high seating position.

I sorta remember how the first RAV4 cornered the yuppy market in the mid-90s.

Another nice feature too is its 550 mm (21.65 in) water wading capability, not bad for a small car-based crossover.

Pre-launch activities will start before the end of the year coinciding with Job 1 (start of production in Thailand), it should reach the showrooms sometime in early 2014.

Ford Philippines is now focusing on the upcoming launch of the Updated Ford Fiesta.

30,000 bookings in just 17 days in India. Now the queue stretches up to 180 days.

(Some up to about 240 days)

    Selling like hotcakes indeed.

Yowzah. If Ford could only produce nearly as many as they could sell, they'd be selling... a lot.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
