I've recently proven it never works...and in all this, I've learned that "Absence makes the heart wander (wonder)". We're supposed to be married this year, but despite all our best laid plans...hay...sayang.
I've posted before on this. But, like so many have been saying, it takes effort on both he and she to make a long-distance relationship work. My wife and I were penpals for years until I came over to the Philippines and married her. Then, I had to wait several more years while I petitioned her and our daughter who was born there.
Now, they're both here with me. We also petitioned my mother-in-law and now, she's here with us too.
If we can hold out that long apart while still single with temptation all around, then our marriage can withstand just about anything.....
Add: It takes a whole lot of effort, a lot of reassurances, and a lot of communication. And this at a time when I used snail mail and a long distance telephone.

Believe me, the girls my wife's cousins kept trying to set me up with were very pretty, leggy, et al.
So, to keep myself from being tempted, I kept my mind on cars and tuning my Plymouth Laser RS Turbo. Cars were my main competition to girls and kept me occupied for a good part of the 90's.
Now that my wife is here, she wants me to get rid of my Laser because I'm so drawn to it. It doesn't matter that it was THAT car that kept me "faithful" to her.....
Add: Especially now that 400hp+ Lasers/Eclipses are possible. "Honey, I want a new project"......
