+1. After 1000 Km of driving you shall feel the smoothness and power of the engine thus your foot on the pedal will be much lesser.

But then again, what kind of overhauling was done to the engine? Was the pistons replaced by over sized ones?

Increasing the piston size would increase engine power and thus consumption.

Too much cylinder to piston skirt clearance may lead to wasted fuel, too little would mean too much friction.

The proper color of the spark plug tips should be a bit almost white.

I'm not sure about this. No first hand experience. Although, I remember new car owners having lower FC during initial use.
