replacing the ball and socket sets is the best repair procedure.

"Ball and socket sets" you mean the adjusting screw and the nut right? Should I replace the retainer clip too? Any idea how much those parts cost?

as far as interchangeability, it is only if the parts are new and virgins. if they already have wear patterns, they should be reinstalled in their original positions
