    OMG, my dad just informed me, the LF3487 apparently is leaking, we are using the everest off road into bad road conditions and when he went home yesterday and check the vehicle this morning all of the oil was gone... he said the rim around the oil filter is full of dripping oil... im confirm later when he removes the filter if indeed it was the cause of the oil leakage...

    Any serious off road action can damage a oil filter, especially if it is hit by debris. Or bottoms out on something. The LF3487 has a pretty thick base plate compared to a OEM filter. Hopefully you guys did not damage anything.

    I also thought the Everest had the same engine as the Ranger which is the WLT engine which does not have a 3/4 16th thread pattern. I am not sure that LF3487 is even the right filter for that engine.

    I believe the 2.5 WL-T Everest engine should have a LF3689 or BD28 which has a M26 x 1.5 thread pattern.

    But I could be wrong, I could never figure out the why the ranger and everest would have a different filter if they are the same engine.

    The newer 3.0 liter ones have a different filter. I'll look into it.

    i can assure you no physical damage to the filter, the filter is very safe in its place, its tucked at the side of the engine, and its mainly mud and soil that the vehicle travels not gravel... its just that my father got stuck on the mud because it suddenly rained. it took 8 people who help pull the vehicle that he was able to get out of the mud pit. the engine did put out its max power... but just wondering why will be damn filter will leak.

    Still get contradicting part numbers for the Ranger/Everest.

    JS filters list it as the LF3689 but if you match it with a VIC C-101 it's the LF3487. Guess someone else needs to step in to clear this one up.

    we have replaced today the LF3487 with wix 51515... well see how the wix performs. hehehe.

    dlvldoc,, im really puzzled whats the difference among the thread sizes like 3/4-16 to M20x1.5??

    Fleetguard 551A is 3/4-16
    Wix 51515 is 3/4-16

    Badlwin BD 28 is M26 x 1.5
    Fleetgaurd LF3689 is M26x 1.5

    wix 57400 M26X 1.5 (cross of LF3689)
    wix 51067 M26X 1.5 (cross of BD28)


    Fleetguard 3487 3/4-16 (cross of 551A)

    IM really puzzled now???

    It's a different thread patten that's the difference, it might screw on but would not seal correctly, I believe the Everest and ranger have a different filter even though they have the same engine, maybe it has to do where they are made. When I look up the Ranger, Madaz Bongo Freedie, or Ford Freda which all have the 2.5L WLT engine use a M26X 1.5 thread pattern.

    If I'm not mistaking the Everest is made in Thialand so that could be the difference.

    iirc as per the packaging of Vic C-306, it says it can be used on the ff engines: 4D56, 4D68, WL and WLT. as we all know, cross for C306 is LF3564 and BD28. hth

    by the way, I ordered LF3564, BD28 and the equivalent WIX filter via a Kubota/New holland Tractor salesman who will supply a tractor unit to our institution. the salesman said they use those 3 brands on their kubota and new holland units. i'll check though if ever they use genuine or counterfeit if ever they have a stock of the 3..as per my initial physical inspection on the kubota unit, it has a fleetguard dry dual type air cleaner. no marks on the engine oil and transmission filters though.

    Yes the old WLT 2.5 Ford engine has the BD28, same with the 4d56 of Mitsu. I found out about this when I bought a Bosch oil filter, they have that imprinted in the box.

    so judging from what has been said,, how come i was able to fit a filter like LF3487 with 3/4 thread to the Wl-t engine with a M26x1.5 thread pattern?? maybe that was the cause of the leak under pressure??

    Well actually what I am saying is I simply don't know what the Everest filter should be just I would think I would the same as every other vehicle with that same engine. I would post the question on fordclubph for a part number, those guys would know.

    aside from ford guys, consulting it with mazda pickups (B25s) might also help....we have them here in tsikot at the mazda car forum theads.

    i discovered the truth myself... i wont wait for the answers to drop from heaven..

    the 2004 model generation 1 everest is 3/4 x 16 thread.!

    i also went to mazford personally and measure the diameter and its 19mm or 3/4 if you convert it to millimeters.

    LOGICAL QUESTION = "if 3/4 thread was a wrong filter how come it screwed well and was able to be tightened?" if the difference was 7mm

    LOGICAL ANSWER (PROVEN RIGHT) = 3/4 thread is not wrong, its the correct thread. that's why it was able to be screwed and be tightened.
