Unless your car's engine requires fully synthetic oil only. You have no choice but stick to its needs. With my Fiesta Ecoboost before, I just change oil every 10k km and it covers a period of around 12 months.
Buti pa VW cars, change oil (FS only) every 15k km or 12 months.

I’m not really sure if his car requires a synthetic oil, but still, it’s just wasteful to dump expensive (but great) oil like Amsoil every 6 months or 2,500-3k km.

Based on the initial post, the car is a 2013 Ford Focus 2.0L. The powerplant is a direct-injected (Ti-VCT GDI) gas engine. Based on Ford manuals, the engine requires a synthetic blend oil with 5w20 viscosity with the Ford's WSS-M2C945-A specifications. This is the same oil requirement as the Ecoboost engines. The alternative is any FS 5w30 oil with API SN Plus or Resource Conserving or ILSAC GF-5 specification.
The Motorcraft 5w30 FS oil will do just fine for his needs.
I'm just following the manual that states that oil change should be every 10k kms or every 6 months whichever comes first. I was thinking of doing once a year but after asking around and even dojng some basic googling that it's still recommended to change it 2x a year with my type of driving (water doesn't get out enough, etc etc).
The amsoil oe is about 50 bucks more expensive than the Motorcraft one (425 vs 380) and 40 bucks more expensive than a Castrol semi synthetic (around 388?)which is why I was considering it. To clarify its the amsoil oe, not the signature series (675/l)
I do feel as I am probably overthinking it lol, it's just that it'll be my first oil change outside casa which is why I'm trying to get as much info as I can. At this point I'm trying to find a good filter thatll fit the car as well (most likely a Motorcraft one since they're relatively good priced at about 350-400)
Regardless, I do appreciate the input and any advice alot, so thank you!
Just basing it off the manual, The Thailand SEA focuses (at least the 2013 mk3 2.0 gdi variant) requires an oil that meets the wss-m2c913-c specification. If that's not available it needs a sae 5w-30 acea a5/B5 oil. 5w-20s are what they recommend I think for US focus models (probably more to do with their weather?)
But yeah I've heard good things about the Motorcraft oils too (380/l at Banawe)
I use shell hx7 5w40 or Kixx 5w30. Depende kung ano naorder ko.
5k kms or six months ang interval ko. And I do change the oil by myself.
among the korean oils Zic Hyundai Kixx? do you guys have any preferrence?
i have only tried zic and hyundai both seem more than ok.
I did it with my Fiesta - changing oil every 10k km or around 12 months for 2 cycles. No difference at all during the time I changed oil every 6 months.
Our Jetta is following a 15k km or 12-month change oil cycle, as prescribed by casa. Diesel pa yan ha. No issues at all for 3 years of use.

ako yung lumang kotse eh mix viscosities ginagawa ko. KAsi yung mga iba pa kotse halos 3.5 lang capacity so yun naiipon eh ihahahlo ko sa oil change ng old cars namin. So walang nasayang lahat gamit.
So 5w30+10w40 naghahalo.
Next mag 5w40 ako.
hey, Help me out in this confusion!! Is it good to change oil? Will it affect my car's appliances?? Best Thermostat
on a from time to time basis probably this is has no adverse effects. important mas lang ay regular oil changes at nakasulat sa manual ay advisable na viscosity for your specific engine
