Tapos demandahan na dahil sa tappet.![]()
^ha ha ha. Sabi ko wag nila bubuksan yung engine.

Ano problema pag pumupugak pugak yung tunog tapos parang biglang nabibilaukan yung makita kaya kumakadyot. Busted spark plugs? Or high tension wire?
* Cathy, minor lang iyon kung tappet lang. If the casa will suggest top overhaul, get a second opinion. And don't blame the noise on not having the car engine flushed. Frequent flushing is not good for our engines.
^I was really worried with the initial diagnosis of casa (may gasgas daw yung valve). I am very anxious to hear about the update tomorrow. I hope it is good! I missed a meeting (that I set) at work today because of this.
Read page 1 onlyIt's not really a casa issue. I am still hoping that they would fix the problem and not give me a top overhaul diagnosis. So far, I am still happy with the service that they are providing. They seem to be doing the best they can naman.
Hindi kaya fuel quality issue/contamination? I had an experience before with our civic, fueled up in some gas station because I needed to. then this same tiktik noise happened. It disappeared after some time though, after i fueled up in my regular gas station. And this was after I travelled some distance.

^Casa asked me nga if I fueled up before the PMS . The car was used the previous day and I always gas up at the same station.

yung takatak sound, makukuha lang yun sa maling fuel octane rating (hindi match sa design nung engine), low oil pressure (oil starvation o baradong oil pump caused by faulty or inefficient oil filter) or no oil at all, or engine knock (damaged connecting rod/main bearings).
kung valvetrain related, parang typewriter yung sound "tik tik"
My gen 9.5 2007 Altis just hit 100,000kms today and it never had any such issues at start-up. Sometimes the starter sticks though and causes a grinding sound in the process. The tappers of the zz engine are also self adjusting. My 20 year old Sentra with 123,000kms on the odo, using the original timing chain and again, with self adjusting tappets gets some start up clatter at times, particularly after a long rest and the auto choke jumps up too high upon start up.
For cars with self adjusting tappets that go off spec, it's the shims that need replacement but i doubt that's the problem because off-spec valve clearances will knock consistently even when the oil has circulated.
There is basis to Shadow's comment on the car being low mileage and rarely used. If i got it right, C4U's Altis is usually driven around the city and does mostly short distances which is also a big wear and tear item. That may also cause some sludge and carbon build-up. If that was my problem now, i'd have the engine flushed, put in Caltex Delo Gold and then I'd then go out and do a really good and hard, high-rpm run on the highway. I will then flush again and put in a good oil of my choice with a nice oil filter. If the problem persists, it may be good to open the valve cover and do a visual inspection for sludge; you may have to replace the cylinder cover gasket but it shouldnt cost much.
Or go with the suggestion of Uls and go to Gearspeed for a racing engine. With luck your car will be back on the road at the end of the Binay Presidency.![]()
That is what they explained na possibility.
I checked the oil before they got the car and it was yellow in color so I assume bago. Yung old oil filter at spark plug hindi na sakin sinosoli, pero now that you mentioned it, dati ginagawa nila yan.
So somewhere case effed up my car kaya nagka ganyan?!?!
Geez, driving short distances around the city, not only gives me bad fuel mileage, it can cause more wear and tear pala? I do a lot of driving that are less than a kilometer.
Casa also made a comment on possible sludge  I thought I will not have sludge as long as I am religious with the 5k PMSLahat ng possibility nila kinakabahan ako e
So do you think they will not charge me anything out of last touch or goodwill?
Around how much is that cylinder cover gasket? BTW for the Gen 10, what liqui moly oil should I buy pala and recommend a good oil filter na rin? Casa receipt indicated 5W40 oil. I am not going to casa anymore for my 40k PMS!!!

Just wait for the diag results and reco by casa, then kung hindi nila i-cover ang cost out of goodwill since religious ka naman sakanila ng PMS and abnormal wear ang ngnyari, then pa second opinion ka sa labas.
But what to expect from casa if ever valvetrain problem nga? casa would just consider it as wear part since past 3yrs na. Altho low mileage, your car engine still spins everytime you start it or when get caught on traffic/short distances. Kaya sa machineries sinusukat ang life expectancy sa run-time and for cars it is 100k kms or 3yrs whichever comes first.
Not sure on the price of the valve cover gasket but a quick call to your CASA or to Toyorama in Banawe will do.
Short city drives give more wear and tear as your engine starts and stops more, and you don't get to hit the optimal operating temperature. This is also where you can have more carbon and deposit build-up as the engine rarely stretches it's legs on the high rpm range for a long time. It's just like our bodies when we don't get proper exercise.
Having a low visco synthetic oil is good for you (i.e. the 5W-40 CASA oil) as this offers better protection during cold starts. I'd suggest before you go decide to go Liqui Moly or Royal Purple, go first to the shop and have the cylinder head opened and visual inspection done for sludge. For me that's a likely problem. It might not be major sludge problems but it may be present and the engine just needs a good flush or clean up, and a nice and long highway drive before you switch to designer oils.
If you want a good oil filter, drop CB a line. Maybe he can help get you some Baldwin BT223 filters. There are some sellers on sulit/olx as well.
