i had this problem for quite sometime now..every morning or kapag malamig yung engine mababa yung idle ko pag inistart usually around 600-700rpm although hindi naman namamatayan but i need to step on the gas pedal para tumaas ng onti yung rpm ko but before naman pag cold start nasa 1.1k-1.2krpm ko then baba after a minute or two kapag umandar na. now baliktad kapag umandar nako ng lets say 500meters ayun tataas yung idle ko ng 1-1.1krpm then after ilang kms na tinakbo ko magiging normal na yung idle ko for 800-900rpm. ano kaya possibe na problema? any parts to check?

    TIA!

You did not say that the vehicle is carbureted or fuel injected. If it has a carburetor, this might be the problem. If you have an automatic choke, check to see that it does not stay closed for too long. common problem on a dirty carb.
When the motor is cold, it will start right up, but will lump at idle and feel rough because the choke provides a too rich a mixture and overloads the engine to the point where it wants to run rough, almost to the point of stalling. Once the auto choke begins to come open it smooths out.
Check the choke. I'm not saying this is the problem, but it sounds so much like the problem of others.

corona exsior with a 3SFE engine. EFI yan and cold start is controlled by the idle speed control valve. baka madumi na kaya stuck na on low idle. just have it cleaned using carb cleaner,

This might be far fetched but I might as well mention it. This symptom showed up on our Lancer GLXi more than a decade ago. Prior to this, a mechanic removed the thermostat (due to it being stucked up closed). When the engine is cold, you really have to step on the gas pedal to keep the engine from stalling. You have to do this for several minutes because without the thermostat, it takes longer for the engine to warm up and the RPM to stabilize. Once the engine has warmed up, everything remains normal until the next cold start. Putting in a new thermostat solved the problem.
