hi sir dieseldude...

Sirs, good day po,
i have problems with my nissan bd25 engine. when accelerating it emits white smoke after idling the engine for 5+ minutes.idling is also rough but when at 1000-3000rpm its smooth, at 3000+ rpm engine sometimes misfires and emits gray to black smoke.engine response is compromised.
i recently changed the oil, all filters oil, fuel, air but it did not change.it runs 10km/L city,12km+/L h.w.
there is little clear blow by gas at the oil filler but none at the dipstick tube but it consumes 1 liter of oil per 3000kms+.
what is the correct idle speed for my engine?
is the rate of oil consumption normal?
faulty engine?
faulty injection?
I hope you could help me out, thanks.![]()

This could be an indication of low compression due to insufficient valve clearance. Compression improves as engine rpm increases.
i recently changed the oil, all filters oil, fuel, air but it did not change.it runs 10km/L city,12km+/L h.w. Good.
there is little clear blow by gas at the oil filler but none at the dipstick tube but it consumes 1 liter of oil per 3000kms+.
what is the correct idle speed for my engine? Approx. approx. 750 rpm
is the rate of oil consumption normal? Oil consumption is ok.
faulty engine? Maybe. Check valve clearance, then perform compression test.
faulty injection? Could also be. But first verify injection timing if correct.
I hope you could help me out, thanks.![]()
Good morning Sir,
sir diesel dude,
i recently acquired 2nd hand toyota hilux 3L. my fuel consumption is bad, it's only 8 km/li combination of city and highway driving. i had talked to other hilux owner saying that their rig does 10-12 km/li.
i noticed na mausok ang car emitting black smoke everytime i press the accelerator suddenly from 1.5k rpm up to 3.5k rpm. i had new changed oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter but no help. could it be of my nozzle tip ro injector pump problem? please help.
also, lakas ng vibration at 1.5k rpm.. thanks..

I would have recommended checking and/or replacing the air filter, but you've already done it. Is your air filter original? If not, the filter media could be undersized, therefore restricting air to your engine. Try removing the air filter element temporarily to see if smoke is less.
could it be of my nozzle tip or injector pump problem? please help. If your car still smokes a lot after the above suggestion is performed, it is possible that the injection pump is faulty.
also, lakas ng vibration at 1.5k rpm.. Faulty engine supports?
thanks. You're welcome.
Is engine power ok?
Hi Sir DD,
Nice thread. can you please pm me, location and contact number of your shop. TIA. and more power.![]()
sir dieseldude,
is using high flow filter like the K&N brand much better than the OEM parts? setting cost aside, this will have better intake flow than the OE parts but filtration is less superior then the original one?? what's your take on this as i am thinking of getting a high flow air cleaner.. thanks and more power...
hi po sir,
may i share my knowledge regarding your concern?
first thing to concider sir is, ilang km n po ba ang natakbo ng bd25 ninyo? if tama po ang estimate ko mahigit 250K n yan or ilang years na po ang inyong sasakyan. regardless of how you use it po. kasi medyo may katandaan na and ganyang modelo ng nissan engine.
the usual problem of old engines with white smoke are, loose compression. loose compression due to the following:
1. worn and carbon filled valve face and valve seat.
a worn and carbon filled valve face and valve seat causes loose compression which leads to rough idling.
2. leak on cylinderhead gasket
leak cylinderhead gasket usually draws oil or water into the cylinder or combustion chamber that causes white smoke when oil, and gray if water.
3. worn cylinder liner/cylinder wall
4. worn and excessive piston ring and its gap
worn cylinder liner and excessive piston ring gap also leads to rough idling, gray smoke due to loose crompression, not all diesel fuel is burn during compression and combustion.
i recommend personally a general overhaul
replace the ff:
valves
valve seat
valve guide
overhauling gasket set (buy)
cylinder liner
piston rings
you can also replace the connecting rod and main bearing if you want to or not if the mechanic says its still OK.
hope it help. thanks
sir dieseldude,
is using high flow filter like the K&N brand much better than the OEM parts?
OEM parts will always assure you of ample air flow at full load and speed as this is designed for its specific engine application. K&N may be a good filter, but it has many part numbers with varying air flow capacities. The K&N dealer should be able to recommend to correct replacement filter to assure you of sufficient air flow at full speed.
setting cost aside, this will have better intake flow than the OE parts but filtration is less superior then the original one?? Better air flow is good. But insufficient filtration is not ok......
what's your take on this as i am thinking of getting a high flow air cleaner.. thanks and more power... The original air filter is engineered and designed to match it's original engine application....... and is often cheaper than K&N.
So this is now up to you.
