Diesel Engines Maintenance Do's and Don'ts

kimpoy: Tungkol dun sa strainer sa injection pump, nasubukan lang namin yun dati sa Inj. Pump ng Adventure. Di kasi lahat ng Inj. Pump ng 4D56 e may strainer. Anyway here’s the details:

Disclamer: This was only done with the Adventure Inj. Pump. This does not assure that all 4D56 pumps have this “Strainer”.

Tools needed: box wrench size 14, screw driver, soap, lint free cloth. (Samahan nyo na rin ng "MOUTH" pang blow ng hangin to remove water :lol: )

1. Locate the hose of the fuel main line and the bolt attaching it to the inj. pump.
2. Remove the bolt and slowly remove the terminal. May manipis na metal washer in between nung bolt and terminal, be careful not to lose it.
3. After removing the terminal, may makikita ka na spring sa loob nung hole, remove it.
4. After doing this, you should be able to see or feel with a screwdriver yung strainer.
5. Get a screwdriver na medyo maliit lang sa butas nung fuel line.
6. Slowly stick the s.driver inside the injection pump hole tapos kapain mo na dun yung strainer. (Magaling ang mga lalake dito) :D Be careful also not to stroke the s.driver hard at baka mabutas yung strainer.
7. Pag naramdaman na na naipit na sa s.driver yung strainer, slowly pull the s.driver out ang whala!!! You get your strainer out.

Cleaning this strainer is very easy, just wash it with regular dishwashing soap and rinse it thoroughly. Make sure you dry it with a lint free cloth or better with a compressed air but a simple blow from the mouth will also do. (wag lang may sasamang “tinga” at babara ulit yun sa strainer :lol: )

Returning the strainer:

1. Put the strainer back in the inj. pump.
2. Return the spring.
3. Return the terminal with the metal washers.
4. Tighten the bolts and start pumping the fuel pump until there is no air in the line.

(Do not overtighten the bolt to avoid damage to the threads.)

Ginawa ko ito sa Adventure ng barkada ko at ng tito ko when they experienced a 90km/h maximum speed sa rides nila. It was later found out that the strainer was already full of dirt that was able to escape from the fuel filter thus restricting free flowing fuel to enter the injection pump.

After this their rides ran smoothly again w/ a 130km/h top speed.

Kupaloids, Tamang-tama ang tip mo ah..Masubukan nga dun sa Adventure ng pinsan ko. Nire-reklamo nya kasi sa akin eh bumaba raw ang Max. Speed nya. Matagal ba gawin ito? Yung po bang hose na tinutukoy nyo ay yung galing tangke papuntang injection pump?

Yup! yun yung hose galing sa tangke na nakakabit sa injection pump. Sandali lang gawin yun! 1 hour is enough (remove, clean, install).

Always remember, be careful when sticking the screw driver inside the strainer to avoid damage.

kupaloids, et al::: Kups, na inspire ako sa post mo regarding the strainer! I decided to give it a go myself! Alam mo naman ang inyong abang lingkod, DIY guy :D I removed the 14mm screw as you instructed and took the washers. When i poked my screwdriver in, WALA pong strainer! :shock: Im not sure if the person who did my last calibration removed it or talagang wala ang 4D56TDic.

wala lang just sharing.....

Thanks PK! Yun yung sinasabi kong di lahat ng 4D56 e merong strainer. Pero yung mga unang nilabas na makina ng Adventure e meron nun, baka pati yung sa bagong L200 meron din. Yung iba kasi, they opted to remove it para daw bawas hasle. HASSLE? mas hassle yata kung mapupunta yung dumi na yun sa loob ng I.P. diba? Well I think my post only applies to those with strainers in their 4D56's. :mrgreen:

Yon 4D56 ko walang strainer. Depende po sa design. Just the other day may tinanggal kaming strainer from an Adventure. Narereklamo 100km lang tops niya. Ayon remove and clean and reinstall. Ayon nag 130 na daw siya.

Does Mitusbishi use different brands of Injection Pumps for the Adventure? Mine is a Zexel... ano sa inyo?

Wala din yung sa akin, hmmm saan kaya makakabili nito? I think its a good thing to install, kung yun lang ang kailangan and no modification para makagamit non.

I find it inconvinient that you have to clean it to keep your performance. Yon friend ko every month ata nag papalinis ang strainer. Magkano kaya sa casa ang palinis nito?
