July 11th, 2013 11:59 PM #76A dead battery will act as a load when in parallel with another battery because the good battery will pass current to the dead one. Parang ichacharge nya yung low/ dead battery. In return, malelessen yung current capacity (A-hr) ng good battery.
A dead battery will not be source since kulang ang capacity nya.

seriously. bakit kailangan malaman ng mga tsikoteer dito sa thread na ito kung series or parallel
ito ano comment niyo dito?
from my car's manual
caution:do not connect the jumper cable from the negative terminal of the booster battery to the negative terminal of the discharged battery. this can cause the discharged battery to overheat and crack, releasing battery acid.

No sense, kasi nakakabit parehas sa car chassis yan. Baka may karugtong pang statement yan, sir. Or may ibang conditions like naka disconnect yung battery.. .
Saan naka connect yung positive ng discharged baterya? Negative terminal lang kasi ang concern nya. So pag walang connection yung positive. Parang wala.

we jump start units almost everyday (24V heavy machines with 2 4D batteries)
negative terminal jumper cable to negative terminal
never experienced "discharged battery to overheat and crack, releasing battery acid"

July 12th, 2013 12:44 AM #80Just correcting the term sir.
The manufacturer is just warning for possibilities so that you couldnt sue them incase accidents happen. Dead battery could be "shorted" or fully drained that it will draw so much current overheating the battery. But in real life, seldom mangyari ang shorted battery. And with the advent of AGM, GEL, and sealed types, less ang chances of spillage. The most is mag crack.
I've seen cracked and bloated batteries but this is due to overcharging, nadadamay ibang battery in this case.
Kwento ng katrabaho ko, meron daw sya officemate dati na Italiano na tinanong daw bakit...
