I think he's referring to that thingamajig in the red wire. It's probably a capacitor to store enough energy needed to get the starter motor going.

I believe that is a fuse and a sort of "one way valve" to protect from reverse polarity.

compared to the smallest lead-acid car battery, "magaan lang".
less than 1 or 2 lbs, depends on the capacity.
leave it inside the car, if you really have no need to keep lugging it in your bag.
    heh heh.

anyone here who still uses one? can it really start your car?

Honda service told me medyo mahina na battery ko... haven't had the chance to personally test it (using a multi meter)

Wouldn't be using any jump starter on modern cars with electronics ... just have 24 hours battery delivery in directory ...

multi-meter test is not enough.. may digital battery testers that measure internal resistance ng battery.. pag medyo mataas na, fail na sa test yan..

another measure is yung "load" tester.. bibigyan ng artificial load yung battery to test if mag hold ng voltage.. pag bagsak sa minimum.. soon to fail na yan

with unavailability of a load tester, you can disable the fuel system by removing the fuel pump fuse. crank the engine until it starts and stalls. then, with a reliable voltmeter crank the engine while observing the voltage of the battery under load. if the voltage drop below 11 volts, recharge the battery and retest. if the voltage still drops, replace the battery

this procedure applies to gas engine that has electric fuel pump
