If it's a smart charger that will transition to float-charging, I wouldn't worry leaving it there up until you need to use the car.

From what I know lead-acid should always be charged to 100%. Anything less and it's prone to sulfation.

Lithium-ion is where you want to avoid charging to 100% unless you really need it.

    back in the day,
we would charge our lead-acid batteries to 100%.
but we would periodically look at the fluid levels.
charging them often, can lead to "increased evaporation", kasi. overcharging via over-eager alternator/generator, also causes premature drying.
but i do not recall if frequent charging did lead to longer battery life.

It seems that most people don't give their batteries enough attention and have been accustomed to replacing them every 2-3 years. With a little more effort, you can extend its life 50-100%.

A simple analogy is a 4x4 off-road vehicle. Sure, it is designed to take a beating going off-road. But doing so, the vehicle will probably not last as long as it would if you instead drove it on the pavement. There is no free lunch... you want off-road fun? Then it's going to be at the expense of more wear and tear.

These batteries live longer when they are fully-charged and THEN maintained on a float-charger. It's not always practical but I've made it easy for myself by adding the quick-connect. The effort I have to exert is almost next to nothing.

My battery's lifespan is just like this. My last battery died after 3.5 yrs. Can't do float-charging for me because my car is only parked in a monthly pay parking lot. Hoping to have my own garage soon so I can do the same. But I do have a jump starter powerbank ready.

    i tend to ... agree.
they appear to have made it into a science... the battery dying within a few weeks beyond warranty lapse.

my son's battery lasted 4 years. his driving back then, had a lot of highway miles.

    in the olden days,
when we were young and poor-ish,
we would replace dead cells, tingi-style.
an independent battery shop would do it.
    marami siyang suking PUV drivers.

That is so true. Kaya I am glad I learned about Amaron here at the board. It's like clockwork talaga na Motolite dies just after the warranty. My first ever Amaron, tumagal ng almost 8 years! Both my cars I replaced with Amaron and it's way beyond the warranty period again.

Magkano po ba investment natin nyan at ano ma recommend nyo po?
Ma try nga to if effective ba.
My stock battery only lasted 2.5 yrs.
Sayang lumampas sa warranty, how I wish it was dead before 2 yrs para ma replacean ng bago ng CASA.

and when they do replace it,
the warranty will only be for the remainder of the stock battery's warranty.

Diesel engine po ba toyota nyo? Baka 2 yrs warranty bigay ng mga SUV/PPV na diesels.
My unit is Santa Fe, 2 yrs bigay ng Hyundai for the warranty ng battery and 5 yrs warranty ng unit.
Sa Mitsubishi Xpander, 1 yr din bigay nila sa warranty ng battery.
    Not sure though sa Montero.

Yes. Innova diesel and a few vios.pare-pareho ang battery warranty clause.

To correct myself, 20,000 kms pala. Hindi 10,000kmsimg_20191007_175337.jpg

Esp sa automatic cars kung below 80% battery life during CCA testing, reco for replacement na.

Parang brake pads, below 1/4" reco for palit na rin

Pero kung mabutingting kayo at gusto makatipid by extending the life, constant charging and monitoring ang kelangan gawin. I suggest to get the 2-in-1 battery tester/charger.

Same, but mine only lasted 5 years. It was bought Nov 2018 but when the pandemic came, it got discharged during lockdown due to non-use (I mentioned that I had a parasitic draw). I only got a maintainer around late 2020 and have been using it since whenever I can.

Siguro kung naagapan and was never discharged for several weeks, umabot din ng 6 years.

Wow tagal ng Amaron niyo! Bought my Amaron I think 2021 then a month before expiration of warranty, namatay kay the replaced it with a new one last Aug 2022. Then now it’s staring to act up again. Hindi na daw nila papalitian even if before warranty expires kasi replacement daw.
