If I may go off topic, what's the best way to check the alternator?

A competent mechanic would check the voltage output ...

While sulit naman for the total length, it just doesn't live up to the initial hype of longer lifespan (they said nuon last battery for the life of the vehicle).
    Marketing hype.

I'll just stick to good 'ol Motolite.

That's what I thought when I read this statement below. With no battery acting as a "sink" or regulator, the alternator will be putting out probably more than 14V-16V which isn't good for the electronics of modern cars.

The first Amaron (a HiLife 3SM) we bought last 8-6-2016 has just passed the 21 month warranty period this month. Despite suffering two discharges from faulty alternator, still gives a satisfying one click start every morning. So far so good...

It just so happened that I'm so used with old models that what I know are somewhat outdated.

For example with this Isuzu I used before, you can actually start it within a battery. I think modern diesel engines won't run with a totally dead battery, much without it, since it needs power to open the solenoid valve for the fuel supply.

Di na ba pwede ipang start ang hiram na good battery tapos balik yung diskargado na battery while engine is running para kumarga na?

Old school hack namin dati yun sa mga jeep/barang na diskargado.

Need to update knowledge base na rin haha

The better way to do it is to jump start the car with jump starting cable. That way you won't swap batteries anymore

15V is still ok ... without battery, voltage can spike up to 100V in some cases ...

NEVER do this on modern cars ... specially Premium European brands ... someone did this on a Ford Ranger ... now his windows won't go up ... need to replace the ECU at a cost of 30T+++ ...

Pag diskargado na maintenance-free, hindi na kaya ng alternator to charge. Either replace or matagal na trickle charge. Baka pwede yun dati sa mga conventional (low maintenance) batteries pero now most of the time pag mababa na charge ng battery hindi na.

Suggested Amazon to a friend... he’s asking if it would have the z4 or h6 type? He said that the group size is 48.

The equivalent in motolite is the d26L but it doesn’t fit in the car’s battery tray and bracket.

I opted the Amaron Pro 65B24LS over Amaron 46B24LS (1SN) due to the former's higher capacity. Both batteries can fit the battery tray though.

Below are some info about the batteries I compared:

    Battery 65B24LS 46B24LS
    Capacity *20Hrs 50AH 45AH
    CCA 420 -
    RC 74 -
    Price (Jawe) P4,300 P3,800
    Price (Pollux) P4,900 P4,300
    Warranty (Jawe) 24mos 21mos
    Warranty (Pollux) 21mos 21mos

However, Pollux gives 6mos warranty for taxi.

Does anyone know why locally made batteries are being tested at 10Hrs while imported once are tested at 20Hrs?

I have high hopes for this Amaron Pro. Hopefully it will last for 5 years since these are the same batteries being sold in India.

The car battery acts as a capacitor ... if you remove it, the alternator might send spiked voltage to the ECU and other sensitive electronics ...

For someone looking at the current price.

Bought at a store in Pioneer Center, Aaron Pro (24 months wty) 1sm for Vios - 5100, less 200 for battery trade-in. ;) HTH

Saktong 2 years na pala this month yung unang Amaron na binili namin! Still starts the 21 year old Granvia just as well as when the battery was new. After this one, we have bought Amaron batteries for 3 more cars, 2 of which have since been sold.

The guys in Jawe recommended SF Sonic (which I had never heard of before) for my last battery purchase last year. Said it was much cheaper but just as good as Amaron (which we were originally asking for). That one has just passed the year mark this month.
