BYC cost control is a myth ... heavily subsidized by CCP ... BYD is in huge debt ... possibly the next Evergrande ...
Either this year or next, I would be buying a new car. So far, I am torn between the BYD Sealion 6 and the eMax 7. I know SL6 is a hybrid, while the eMax 7 is a pure EV. My concern is that both have low clearances. Would they be able to handle the usual street humps since our subdivision have those humps? My Innova has no problem with those humps. But these BYD cars have lower clearance right?
BYD Sealion 6 has better interior quality then the BYD eMax 7. The needed to cut corners somewhere to have the same price range. Lesser maintenance for the BYD eMax 7. BYD Sealion 6 also has the older Blade battery system compared to all of the other BYD vehicles.
Sir, what is your basis in saying that the battery system of Sealion 6 is old? I have asked the BYD agent and he said that its battery system is similar to that of the other BYD cars both EVs and PHEV. I am keen on buying the Sealion 6 but I am concerned with what you are saying on its battery system... Pls clarify...
I do not have technical knowledge on cars. Since I am scouting for a new ride (I already have an Innova Gas and a Diesel Fortuner), I am considering this BYD sealion 6.
From my understanding, the hybrid system of Toyota would constantly work (both the electric motor and the engine) to run the car. On the other hand, on the BYD Sealion 6, we can always set it on pure EV mode and not run the engine even for a week or month, if I am using it in the city where my speed is limited to 60km/h. My BYD agent even said that the only time the engine would kick-in if (1) I set it on PHEV mode; (2) battery is under 20% and (3) the speed reaches 80km/h.... Is my information correct?
I have a friend with a Sealion 6. Yes it runs in pure EV mode most of the time in city driving. Just charge it up when you get home and it won't even start the gasoline engine.
Note that when you've gone too long not using any gas it might go into a gas burning mode just so the gas in the tank doesn't expire.
Is the eMax 7 battery (Pure EV) a newer blade battery than sealion 6? I know one is hybrid and the other is pure EV... but in terms of "new" battery system, pareho lang ba sila? I have heard of BYD Blade battery 2.0... but has this been implemented on the eMax 7? I hope you can assist me in clarifying this matter before I shall decide which between Sealion 6 and eMax 7 should I purchase...Thanks in advance
Laki pala problem ng BYD sa stocks ng mga collision parts (bumpers, lights, etc.). I have 3 friends na 3 months na wala pa din available replacement parts.

Sealion 6 would be the practical choice for most people ... an entry into EV world if you don't know yet what to expect with EVs ... Sealion 6 does have better interior fit and finish than the eMax 7 ... they had to cut corners somewhere to meet the price point ...
If purely for City driving then get the Emax7. since you already have other cars for longer drives.
The emax 7 still uses the BYD blade 1.0 not the newer 2.0 just like the SL6.
AFAIK None of the local ByD cars offers the newer 2.0 blade battery.
Don't worry about the battery, even if its the first gen Blade battery it will last longer than some ICE engines. its also safer than other types of batteries. plus 8 year warranty.
