motor probably waterproof but here's what happens all the time w/ ecosport/fiesta maybe other models as well. the coolant line cracks there and the tank yellows AF from being exposed to full coolant tempsi still prefer the old style radiator caps, the expansion tank doesn't get as hot
Sa Everest/Ranger parang hindi naman issue yan afaik. Yung EGR pa na nalulusaw ang plastic sa mga manual transmission na model. Sa Avanza may nabibili na aluminum alloy na pamalit na thermostat housing. Hopefully may ganyang ding aftermarket hehe

Fasten your seatbelt! Or else...Driven To Thrill!
I think matagal nang gumagamit ang manufacturers ng plastic/rubber sa cooling system ng cars.
I remember yung first car ko (Box Type) plastic na yung mga links and coolant reservior.
Yung mga taxi nga namin noon (E90) yung top and bottom parts of the radiator were already hard plastic, kaya kapag nag leak, palit na agad (di na pwede and repair)
Sinilip ko nga City ko kanina... plastic na din.
so i went looking under the hoods of my city hatch and jimny. other than the plastic upper/lower of radiators, no other plastic parts in the coolant path. that means no plastic thermostat housings, no plastic coolant hoses or attachments
sa ford maraming plasticplastic clutch pedal. plastic clutch master and hoses. plastic valve cover w/ integrated PCV i.e. can't change pcv separately
plastic oils pans and timing cover (one time use). soon they'll have plastic engine block and pistons
They're hell-bent on sustainability kasi... even at the expense of a shorter lifespan from their products.
And it's not because of their abundance of love towards mother nature. Rather, it's a business strategy to reap the benefits from "green" incentives and other government and private funding programs.
Ford's New Plastic Auto Parts Are Made From Olives - Newsweek
While, there is some good with finding uses to otherwise, waste materials, I would still rather have these made into parts that are non-critical. Anyway, the frequent failures are a disservice to their customers who has to spend more for parts that didn't really have to break, if only they were made of something more robust.
Heard through the grapevine that the Atto 2 is going to be released next. The most likely date is in August.
soy-based wire insulation.
1. cheaper than the petroleum-based plastic insulation.
2. environment-attractive, as it was plant-based.
For someone having experience working with Japanese team, I am sure they already anticipated this.
Probably during the debate, the monetary aspect of having it bringing the car back to dealer for servicing prevails.
They probably weighs that the impact is just minimal for having the warranty cost being shouldered to Car Manufacturer itself.
Than the monetary benefits they can reap for having it complied for the environment friendly materials.

BYD Atto 3 Rust Issues Down Under — BYD Responds Promptly - CleanTechnica
So far, these rust issues are few and far between and I expect that they will be addressed as well in Australia as they have been so far in New Zealand.
What I heard is a ₱2.2M SRP -- not sure if this price is for the base or the TOTL version, tho. An SA told me one variant lang daw but another said it will be like the Shark (2 variants).
The Tang EV is ₱3.3M, btw.

Shouldn't the EV model be priced lower due to lesser tax than Hybrid? unless of course its already priced way higher in the first place.
if true the 2.2M price tag is very good and will undercut most gas fed SUV and even lowered than most mid tier model PPVs.
