if true the 2.2M price tag is very good and will undercut most gas fed SUV and even lowered than most mid tier model PPVs.
    Batteries are expensive.

I dont think so. Those were never released officially by Solar Transport and AC mobility.
AFAIK the earliest release of a PHEV or EV by Solar transport (previous BYD dealer) is the Song Pro PHEV which was a precursor to the Sealion 6 and the BYD Dolphin. and then the HAN and TANG EV which was the newer model than that from the recall.

BYD prepping to launch Sealion 7 EV in PH? | Autoindustriya

unlike the Sealion 5 and Sealion 6, which are plug-in hybrids, the Sealion 7 is a fully electric midsize crossover with seating for five passengers. The DOE list includes the vehicle size that measures 4830 mm long, 1925 mm wide, and 1620 mm tall. By those numbers, the Sealion 7 competes directly with the likes of the Tesla Model Y.

BYD hails windfall as Iran oil crisis supercharges Chinese EV outlook | Nikkei Asia
Wang Chuanfu predicts 'another level' of overseas sales, lifting goal by 15%: sources.
    by Cissy Zhou
    March 31, 2026

HONG KONG -- China's electric vehicle king BYD has acknowledged reaping a windfall as the Middle East conflict drives up gasoline prices and makes EVs more attractive, according to informed sources.

Founder and Chairman Wang Chuanfu told analysts at a closed-door briefing on Monday that skyrocketing oil prices are expected to push BYD's overseas sales to "another level" this year, according to multiple people familiar with the session. Wang singled out markets such as Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines, where he said daily sales volumes are now as high as what the carmaker could previously sell in two weeks.

The automaker has raised its annual overseas sales target to 1.5 million cars, a 15% jump from a previous goal of 1.3 million units, Wang informed analysts last week and repeated at Monday's event. The company did not immediately respond to Nikkei Asia's request for comment.

The chairman's remarks -- which reflect a jump in oil from around $60 a barrel at the beginning of the year to over $100 due to the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz in the Iran war -- will buoy hopes for a turnaround powered by overseas markets after a disappointing 2025.

The European premium off-road monopoly is officially over. Watch as the 2026 BYD Leopard 8 effortlessly climbs a near-vertical dirt mountain while completely missing a rear wheel, relying purely on the groundbreaking DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system. This is not a visual trick; it is a forensic demonstration of software-defined engineering completely destroying traditional mechanical laws.

In today's technical deep dive, we tear down the hardware and thermodynamic architecture of China's newest off-road monster. We expose exactly why the multi-chamber pneumatic air suspensions utilized by legacy brands like Land Rover and Porsche are fatally flawed under extreme thermal stress, and how BYD’s ultra-high-pressure hydraulic matrix reallocates load in milliseconds to maintain absolute structural equilibrium.

From the decentralized Dual Mode Off-Road (DMO) platform and Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) structural rigidity to the predictive Lidar pre-emptive strike system, discover why the era of heavy mechanical driveshafts and traditional differentials has been executed by digital processing power. The old guard is trapped in the past century, and the new rules of chassis dynamics have just been rewritten.

This could be a good move for BYD in the Philippines. Ayala has a strong network and experience in the auto business, so it might help improve dealership reach, after sales support, and overall brand confidence. It will be interesting to see how pricing and availability change moving forward.

offer is only available to BYD owners in China

BYD is assuming financial liability if you crash while using its self-driving tech | Engadget

According to BYD, the company will "directly cover all resulting economic losses" if a driver uses the Urban Navigate on Autopilot feature in compliance with all regulations and gets into an at-fault accident. As reported by Electrek, the guarantees includes repairs to the owner's car, third-party property damage and personal injury costs. Along with that, the guarantee doesn't have a payout cap, doesn't require a separate insurance policy and won't raise insurance premiums, according to Electrek. BYD said this offer is good for one year for new customers, or existing owners as soon as they upgrade to the God's Eye 5.0 system.
