TO Chev Spin Owners,
Just wish to also share my experience kasi my experience was a SAFETY ISSUE.
Bago masira yung Spin, We've experienced a sudden increase in RPM.
Initially, it was happening rarely.
This sudden increase in RPM happens in just a second or two.
The RPM moves from 850 then spikes to 1300.
Again this happens for just a second or two.
However, if we are in D and coming from a stop, the SPIN moves forward suddenly.
If our foot is not on the break, we would have bumped the car ahead of us.
Then if we try to complain sa Chev, they might do a Mitsubishi thing......they might attribute it to driver error.
I had to have casa check it.
Turned out.....the Throttle module was faulty.
They made a temporary spare part swap.
The sudden RPM surge issue disappeared.
The maintenance crew made temporary repairs to my Throttle Module and advised replacements be prepared.
We were promised they'd report this to TCCI.
At the moment, the casa has not updated us on this issue.
Just sharing my experience.
Stating facts.
Hope it does not happen to your SPIN...and if by chance it does, you'd have an idea what might be wrong.
Most certainly NOT Driver Error.
Sablay ang aftersales ng Chevy lalo na mga casa. Kapag nabentahan ka na iwan ka na. From my experience, you may directly report to TCCI in parallel with the casa if you have disputes for faster resolution. TCCI Warranty dept 519-6001 loc 815/567/587
Problem with Spin is that they don't share major parts with other models so they don't stock much parts locally.
Parts itself are Chopseuy made by supplier from Indo, Korea, Europe, Thailand, China, US - Delphi, Bosch, ACDelco Kaya you have to be patient and resourceful when it comes to parts.
Walaa kang aasahan sa casa you will bleed money everytime, maliban sa free 100kms towing service.![]()
Sabi nga ni OB, we are the unfortunate bunch who bought this car. Who wouldn't be disappointed eh 2012 nila minarket ang Spin then discontinued kaagad by 2015. All along i thought Ertiga would release also the diesel version plus the Jimny which uses the same JTD powerplant kaya malakas kumpyansa ko sa pyesa. Had i known it earlier then i would'have gone to Ertiga for seating or Accent for its diesel.
that is just bs.
one reference is the job order. is there a job order from the casa? if there is no open job. theyre not forced to solve this.

We just called Chev Casa. They have informed us that the spare blower is in stock now with TCCI and awaiting delivery to their casa. We asked update on the throttle module, casa informed us that they are still processing it with TCCI for approval (its been two months of processing already). Just hoping for the best outcome here. Thank you to all who made very valuable inputs to us. 12Vdc, thanks for the telephone numbers of TCCI direct and also to StockEngine for valuable comments...also to the others...Thank you. ......I will update you soonest.
hindi pa yan na process. warranty request is just one click. approved or deny. hindi wait ng 2 months
like i said.. job order as reference.

After about 3 weeks, the blower of our Spin has been replaced. The unit is now operational. Chev casa has informed us that the throttle module spare part is on order and will be arriving soon. For the blower of the radiator, the bill is 16,000Php. My unit is 3 years and 2 months old. The ODO is at 54,000 kms. Since the warranty is 5 years bumper to bumper, I was told by Chev Casa that my bill is Zero Php. The unit is covered up to 5 years.
This Spin has been my most troublesome car.....
aircon compressor with all associated repairs costs 37,800Php
radiator blower (replaced twice) costs 16,000Php per replacement
Automatic lever ....didnt see the cost
Throttle module....I havent seen its cost yet as the spare will be arriving....
In all of these troubles and after all repairs were done, I paid Chev ZERO Php.
As much as the downtime of the car is a big discomfort to us, I must be fair to everyone
and state the facts with minimal emotions involved.
My previous Chev(2011) had a downtime of 27 days before the spare came and the unit completely repaired. This current issue took 20 days for Chev to resolve. The aircon compressor had a 3 day downtime. The automatic lever and previous blower were replaced in a day as the spares were pre-ordered. I am assuming the throttle module will be a plug and play thing when it arrives with the unit working immediately. This whole experience may not be to the liking of everyone. So its up to the buyers to weigh the pros and cons and see what would suit their preferences and their needs. For me, the improvement of the reduced downtime is showing Chev's commitment to the improvement of their service to their buyers. To some it still may fall short. But it is a step in the right direction for Chev.
Glad youre following up with Chevy. some just wait and wait without any followups hence they get fed up once that 30day passes.
So the car works with that throttle module defective?

Yes, the throttle module is defective. It was temporarily repaired by the maintenance crew.
The crew informed me that their repair is only temporary and replacements should be ordered.
I must commend the maintenance crew for this, after they did their repairs, the throttle module has not exhibited
the "issue". I am praying it wont until the new parts arrive. I almost bumped the car in front of me when the throttle was faulty and not yet temporarily repaired. The RPM surged from 800 to 1300 without gas input. Fortunately that at that time, my foot was slowly releasing the brake. I had to suddenly press the break hard. This phenomenon progressed and became much more frequent. Being a safety issue, I had to have my unit checked. I will post any update soon. Also thanks for your inputs. Greatly appreciate it.
The throttle module of my SPIN has arrived and been replaced.
It took sometime, pero Chev has replaced it.
Bill on paper is 15Tplus.
Signed the paper and paid nothing.
Chev honored their warranty.
I am thankful for all your tips guys.
The issue would have not been solved if not for your inputs.
Thank you.
Glad to help bro.
My unit is back after 2months sitting at the dealer, ni service car wala pinalit. Kung hindi ko pa nakumbinse ang TCCI warranty dept to prove that fuel pump is a powertrain component eh ichacharge talaga saakin ang defective pump(worth P19,700) and they keep on insisting na strainer daw yun at wear and tear part![]()
This is my last Chevy, sana in 2yrs time dahil sa hina ng benta eh tuluyan magsara na ang GM phils.
But Nissans are now French, soon Mitsibishis
Seriously, susulitin ko nalang bro sa fuel, so far mas matipid sa crosswind at matulin.
