that reminded me of a similar scenario...
when I was screening for hirees as my replacement & a sap fico jr. consultant... I think I interviewed a total of 10 people and NONE of them passed the basic criteria of being a "consultant". many are just users who knows the basic processes but don't have configuration & integration knowledge.
that's why the hiring criteria for consultants nowadays include 2-3 full cycle implementation.
and oh... for functional modules... a certification is a good proof already since SAP Phil. screens out those who are trying to take the certification exam. it is either you have sufficient experience already or you took up a full SAP Academy course.

If I just want to learn SAP CRM enough to know that consultants are not talking BS when they say a) it takes x man days to do; b) it cannot be done with the current version, puwede na ba yung first two courses?

and

Adviseable ba to take these courses if I am not looking to be certified in SAP at the moment? Sagot naman ng company. My current skillset is Siebel but there's a chance na mawala na yung product.

wildthing...
better take SAPCRM (overview) & SCM600 (basic business processes).
yung CR100 is more on customizing already (and is more geared for certification).

di naman lahat ng indians ganyan, pero nalaman ko yan nun nasa Singapore pa ako. pag phone interview magaling yung mai-interview mo pag natanggap na at nasa pwesto na laging I'll get back to you ang sagot. sa saudi naman minsan madaldal lang sila at dadaanin ka sa sindak pag nasindak ka talo ka.
one time sa saudi yun isang consultant na indian may pinasa sa akin na issue ng user sabi sa akin daw yun, e sa description pa lang ng issue alam ko na di sa akin...pero para lang walang gulo i tried to look for a solution within my module (IS-U/CCS) after a week of looking at wala ako makita sa module ko, ang ginawa ko hinanap ko sa module nya at tries to simulate the config and trnasaction in the sandbox machine ayun nakita ko yun config sa module nya...sinabi ko na lang sa kanya na di ko makita ang solusyon sa module ko at malamang nasa module nya ang solusyon. pinabayaan kong hanapin nya - para matutunan nya ang hawak nyang module. nang malaon nalaman ko na sa previous project ang role nya pala ay mag present lang ng training materials at di sya talaga consultant.
