i think people are confused w/ electric vs electronic. analog vs digital
electric refers to things moved by electricity. e.g. electric power steering is assisted by electric motors. which is controlled by a bunch of electronics. that's the crucial distinction here. that's why you shouldn't say electronic power steering
as for drive by wire accel pedal it's actually digital. the pedal position sensor encodes and communicates the position as well as a whole bunch of checksums, error-correction, etc. it's not safe to transmit this as an analog signal, interference would cause SUA-like disasters but that's not to say digital systems don't go SUA coz they do if they're buggy LOL
