never ko pa sya binabad sa araw. kung iiwan ko man saglit lang or kung matagalan, i make sure to cover it with my gel pad.. pero mostly tinatanggal ko sya pag nakabilad sa araw. same with my portable gps.

okay naman sya pag gabi. serve the purpose, ika nga.

My SJCAM has been exposed to the sun everyday for the past 6 months. It still works as well as it did when it was brand new.

Hassle masyado to take out or cover it when going out. I don't like it when I have to take extra care of my gadgets - hindi naman yan baby. I like durable things and the SJCAM is one of the sturdier pieces of electronics from China.

I've found a new way to mount my dashcam:

Using the supplied bike mount for the SJCAM, I attached it to the stalk of the rear-view mirror.

No more suction cups to the windshield = no damage to tint. [emoji108]

Same tayo ganyan din ginawa ko sa stalk ng rearview mirror. Need pala ng battery yung sjcam to work properly in car mode

Yes. I bought a 12V splitter so that one socket is for the SJCAM, while another is for my dual-port USB that charges my phones.

Tomorrow I'll try to get the wiring hidden in the headliner and a-pillar, and the connection directly to the Acc/Ignition so that I can free up my 12V port.

I think what he meant was that for car mode to work optimally, you have to keep your SJCAM's battery inserted.

Naisip ko rin kasi yan before - since nagpopower on lang naman yung SJ pag nakaon yung oto, and we want it to shut off when you turn off the car, baka pwedeng no batt tapos rely solely on the charger.

However, this leads to abrupt shutting down of the unit once the engine is turned off, which doesn't give ample time for the camera to store the video being recorded on the card. Baka macorrupt yung card, or worse, the board of the camera itself. It's like turning off your PC without shutting it down properly.

Not yet. But that's the plan tomorrow - buy 4m worth of wire with a mini-USB male adapter at one end, and the other end to be connected to the ignition directly. If this isn't possible, then the other end would be a USB male socket which I'll plug in to the 12V socket.

Thanks a lot sir! That's nice and clean setup you got there. I'm now set on buying a non-wifi SJ4000. Just having second thoughts if having it as a permanent dash cam has its cons. But with the inputs here I think that won't be a big issue. Will check tomorrow kung pwede ko din kabit sa rear view mirror stalk. Kapag doable baka di na din ako bumili ng suction.

Repost form another thread: Interesting free android app I downloaded and used recently on my roadtrip. CamOnRoad, it makes use of your phone camera as a virtual Dashcam while overlayed with Map direction from Google map. Very good feature and resolution will depend on your Phone camera. There was one drawback through, My phone frequently overheats due to sunlight exposure on the winshield and constant charging. Looking to relocate the phone on the aircon vent next time once i get a mount for that. Otherwise its quite a good app. Have anyone tried this?

It's not the resolution that's the problem, but the field of view. Phones only have 60 degree FOVs, while dashcams have 150-170. You can't see the fenders of your car with a phone, but you can with a dashcam.

Just wondering if you can connect the wire directly to the ignition, which is 12v? There must be some adaptor to convert 12v to 5/6v, which is what the SJCAM needs.

Another method of using the accessories provided in the box to install the SJCAM, instead of buying that suction cap, is by using that flatform piece (w/ the 3M adhesive) and fix it atop of your headunit or dashboard. This is good kasi, if you would, mas madali ang pag-tanggal-kabit..

Yep, that's exactly what I did. I used the charger that came with the SJCAM mount, including its 12V to 5V head. Then this was attached to a fuse, afterwards attached directly to the ACC.

It has exactly the same functionality as with plugging it to the cigarette lighter slot, except it's much much cleaner looking.
