Planning on getting an HID retrofit

yan binilugan ko po ang hotspot nyo which is odd dahil sa passenger side sobarng litaw ang hotspot ang sa passenger naman halos wala. check nyo po position bulb sa seat ng projector kung lapat ba ang bulb or if ang mga tabs naka align. yung sa passenger side na hotspot either mababa talaga ang shield or naka subsob ang bulb.

Doon sa post mo na pic ng d2s 4.0, you would notice ung 'step' ng driver side is very sharp. Pero ung akin almost wala na. Thats why im wondering whats the problem. Even ung color band ng driver side hindi prominent sa akin.

parang opposite po ata ang nangyari sa inyong driver side dun sa passenger side ni JJB. I'm assuming na d2s ang bulb nyo. Pag nag high po ba kayo ok naman hotspot nung sa passenger side?
Try mo lagyan ng shim sa may 6 o'clock ng bulb. aluminum tape ay maganda gamitin. try nyo if lumabas ang hotspot. Another process is diba may apat na prong ang base banda ng bulb capsule, tulak mo ng konti yung sa may 12 o'clock na prong para yumuko ng konti but careful alng sa ganitong process dahil pag na sobrahan mag ka crack ang bulb. medyo mas safe ang shimming process.

Just a guess sir but this may have something to do with bulb alignment. From what I've read this is pretty common with non-oem d2s bulbs so you have to shim the bulbs to align. See this thread:

Hindi ako nagpopost hehe, basa basa lang so hindi na ako sumali. Yup nakita ko nga yung headlight junkies. Sayang wala tayong masyadong options dito sa pinas. Yung Q5 na usually kinakabit ng mga retrofit shops sa atin ok naman, pero ok sana kung may mas bagong choices.

BTW yung kay redline pala na stage 3 VIP mini d2s 4.0 yun from Morimoto. Parang almost 30k ata siya with Osram NB bulbs.

Oo nga sir pero maganda din pag maraming mga pinoy that knows and read that hidplanet forum so marami din ang ma aware on what proper headlight is about.

Speaking of d2s 4.0, kung mag decide ka mag mini d2s 4.0 and gusto mo palitan ng spacer ang retaining spring may thread akong pinost sa hidplanet sa "How To & DIY" section on ang title "how to ditch motimoto mini d2s 4.0 springs". Hirap kasi mag palit ng bulb sa md2s 4.0 dahil abala ang retaining spring at sumabsabit sa bulb tab for igniter at minsan pati bulb cap ng md2s 4.0 lalo na if naka kabit na ang HL mo. Actually yung idea was not mine. Shinare lang sa akin ng isang member sa forum pero dun nya pinost sa headlight junkies and for some reason di siya maka post sa hidplanet forum so I posted for him to help others with the same problem. It is a simple and small mod sa mga naka md2s but a big help lalo na pag nag palit ng bulb.

Thanks for the tip D3nb3r! Gamitin ko muna yun setup ko then isipin ko if mag upgrade. Although sabi ng redline hindi magkakasya yung mini d2s kit sa headlight ko kasi maliit siya

Turns out my retrofit wasn't really this weak before. Took a pic in the exact same spot, two years apart.

Cutoff is fuzzier now. Tots actually messaged me noting the same observation and asked me to come over to his shop for lens cleaning (excellent aftersales service!). Hopefully the output returns to its previous clarity after cleaning. 😊
