After 1 year and 10 months, busted na yung low beam ng isang Osram NBL ko. Planning to replace it sana with Philips Ultinon Essential Gen 2. Anybody here na ganito ang gamit sa reflector headlights nila?
I've been using H4 Ultinon Essentials for a year now. They're ok, but the white light takes some getting used to coming from halogens.
If budget isn't a concern I suggest going for PIAA Hyper Arros LED. Brightness of LED with a 4300k color temp. Get it during shopee or lazada sale.
if yun ang stock size bro it shouldnt matter

Magkaiba yung model ng philips for fog and headlight. Nagrereklamo si misis. Malabo daw. Maybe hindi nga nga ganun ka linaw talaga ang LED or baka pang fog talaga, binalik ko na lang stock. Mas malinaw pa stock. Hanap na lang ako ng osram nbu or Philips xtreme vision na h11.
6.8k bili ko dahil 2 colors sya interchangeable yellow and white. Hindi ko alam kung may fan yan.
Kabit ko na lang sa fog light pag napundi many years from now. [emoji23] Lesson learned, sakit sa bulsa.
Ganun ba talaga led malabo? Nagpakabit kasi si misis ng tint medium. Although hindi sya nagrereklamo sa stock headlight, gusto ko palitan ng xtreme vision or osram night breaker. Ano ba maganda sa projector type na malinaw?![]()
Dual color pala.. suitable for fog yan.. iba yung pang headlight talaga..
Reviving this thread ... any updates on this ... who's the leader now in headlight bulbs ... Osram, Philips? ... read that there are now LED H7 bulbs that mimic the light spread of halogen bulbs ...
They're still the trusted names in the industry. Most of their products offer marginal improvements (relatively speaking) over halogen. They tend to be more conservative and lean towards maintaining near-OEM spec in terms of brightness. Very expensive for what they are, though.
All else being the same, the beam output is mostly a function of the vehicle's reflector design. My old 1st gen Innova took H4 bulbs (hi/lo beams in one) and although the cut-off is well-defined after switching to aftermarket LEDs, there's still quite a bit of glare above it. I had to take measures to cut it down by extending the 'hoods' on the low-beam H4 LEDs. This was done using aluminum tape.
The 2nd gen Innova have better reflectors. The dedicated H11 low beams have significantly less glare than the previous Innova with H4 LED bulbs.
how i wish more of these halogen-to-LED converters would be conscientious enough or mindful enough, as to do this!
back in the day,
i did this when i replaced my ancient car's cataractic headlight assemblies with newer ones.
but the new ones were RHD models that i bought from some local online seller. installed tape to control the glare. didn't have much of a choice back then, as parts for this uncommon car were... uncommon.
back then, we could espy some cars with tape over their headlights. probably for the same reason.

I gave up on upgrading H4 halogen bulbs to LED. Lakas ng silaw eh. Nagparetrofit na lang ako ng projector headlights.
Is it safe then to conclude that none of the LED bulbs sold in the market today guarantee a no glare intensity for the H4 halogen plug and play replacements?
i think so.
the fault, i believe, is in how the current led bulb is designed, compared to how the filament bulb is constructed.
if the headlight reflector is not changed as the bulb is changed from filament to led, the resulting increased glare won't be tamed. something to do with the location of the filaments versus the diodes.
google for explanation, po. google explains it better than i do.
for parking lights, signal lights, rear lights, and dome lights, there is no problem (except for the electronics part (heh heh).

light from an H4 emanate from very short strings of tungsten. it's easy to emulate this with LEDs. instead of a string of wolfram just have a string of LEDs, specifically very small dome-LESS LEDs i.e. point-sources of light strung together to emulate the filament in a bulb.
what you don't want are the large LEDs coz they don't behave like point sources
got a set of these cheap Nighteye/Novsight H4 in the jimny which has very simple round reflectors. very good cutoff and brighter than the stock halogens.
