I know that there are plenty of articles here about E10, but this one is a good read.

from the article above:
The law mandates the oil companies to secure their supply from local sources before importing. But the local suppliers have not been able to keep up with the requirement. The oil companies will have to import their ethanol requirements to comply with the government mandate. That negates one of the objectives of the law which is supposed to increase our level of energy independence and save on foreign exchange.
stupid law
knee jerk reaction to the 2008 oil price spike
meant to reduce reliance on imported crude/products
local ethanol producers couldnt produce enough so oil companies have to buy ethanol from Brazil
so much for reducing reliance on imports
from the article:
Once government mandates that all types of gasoline be blended with 10-percent ethanol, this shortfall will only grow bigger. So, why is government pushing for the 10-percent ethanol mandate? Sino nanaman ang kikita dito? Given the significant price differential between imported and local ethanol, this looks like pure and simple economic rent-seeking by local vested interests working through politicians like Mr. Zubiri whose family is also in the sugar business.
local ethanol producers must be very well-connected
they lobbied the govt to enact a law that created permanent demand (guaranteed buyers) for their productLast edited by uls; April 5th, 2013 at 11:15 AM.

April 18th, 2013 07:19 PM #893Is it better or even required that you consume the contents of the tank before refilling considering napapanis yung e10? So if you had a full tank then consumed 3/4 tank in 4 weeks, then you topped off again to full there would be some e10 there that would be breaking down in about 2 weeks time?
Or does adding new E10 somehow revive the old stuff already in the tank?Last edited by LoBudget; April 18th, 2013 at 07:20 PM. Reason: grammar nazi

April 20th, 2013 12:29 AM #896Are there petrol brands that doesn't contain ethanol? Other than Petron Blaze?
Read the article and it reads that Petron Blaze 100 is PURE gasoline. But I'm still concerned of the 100RON because I think most petrol engines indicates up to 97RON only? Not sure as I don't have the owners manual with me.

Better to buy the similar-era clone starex 4x4 (not sure lang if local or imported but original lhd...
