Well, that is not much help because it's not that we can just turn a knob to increase the engine's compression ratio...

Chevrolet engines have been the best ones to use with ethanol blends.
Great! So to get the same fuel mileage as before, all we have to do is just buy new chevy cars.

Either way, it's not much help for the majority of the cars already on the road.

a better solution is to scrap the e10 rule and let oil companies sell both ethanol blend and unblended

    GIVE CONSUMERS A FREAKING CHOICE

I would have gone that direction but it would have dampened the original "green" plan if both E10 and regular unleaded was available. And given Filipinos are a conservative lot by culture, the majority would remain with regular unleaded and shy away from E10. Back then, for E10 to become the "choice" fuel, it had to be the only fuel available.

that's what happens when govt people get sucked into the pro-environment ideology

remember, the green movement (or whatever it's called) is an ideology

Al Gore and other environmentalists are pushing their ideology worldwide

    mabenta sa mga pinoy yan

locally you have Gina Lopez pushing that ideology

with ABSCBN at her disposal she's very dangerous

if they priced e10 gas 1 to 2 pesos lower than regular gas that would create enough incentive for consumers to buy e10

but that wouldnt have created enough demand to absorb all the locally-produced ethanol

they enforced e10 to create demand to absorb locally-produced ethanol

It would have been good if Congress had actually stated that all fuel suppliers should buy locally made ethanol, instead of insisting on an exact fuel blend that could not be met by current production... then ramp up blend requirements to keep up with supply.

Yeah. Pogi points. Like the millions of pesos worth of rice imported by the previous administration to "solve" the rice problem which were left to rot in warehouses...

Hopefully people are starting to see that it's not enough to "solve" a problem... but to solve it intelligently.

Unfortunately the filipino people (as a whole) do not have a long memory of its own past. They forget lessons learned as soon as the ink dries on the newspaper. That is why ERAP is now a free man and why we have crooks elected as mayors and into congress and senate.
