sa akin lang, honda is good naman, pero way too madami na sa road natin, which somewhat i dont like...b16a, vtec, parang word of "filipino" mouth na yan...

pero in fact, 2 cam lobes lang ang vtec, MIVEC, 3..pero needs high octane rating. 4age silver and black top is not as noisy as honda b-engine..now k-series engines na ata) personally, i havent seen a SR16VE, nadidinig ko pa lang siya, and 2 years ago ko lang siya nalaman.. ang alam ko lang is SR20VET! the first turbocharged VVT engine, 2.0L rated stock at 280hp!

by comparision, nissan makes first in in VVT technology. just like in CVT(continuosly vaiable tranny). actually, a honda fan again will say una ang honda, well infact, JDM sentra and serena models 1998 is already using it, and ga16 and sr20de mga yun, not 1.5 and 1.3. take the murano, v6 3.something, pero CVT, mga year 200 pa ako nakakita ng USDM models, na happy to say pareho dito...pero OT na yaung CVT..VVT topic ko.

purpose ko nito, is research. if ever i will get a honda, ayaw ko ng kapareho ng typical honda fan..mitsu, subbie, mazda and nissan fan ako,e...recently lang ako naconvert sa toyota..honda, well, CR/HR-v and odyssey, lang...but trying to pit in somehow...may honda tuning ako na libro dito, vol. 1, includes swapping guide from civic EF-EK, inluding CRX and del sols, accord 92-2000, also prelude..kaya madami na akong guide for honda..but how does the other VVT engines pit in against the loud honda vtec?

*loud-->di yon tunog ng makina, loud i mean is yung masyado siyang bukang-bibig, lalo na ng mga wanna-be and boy racers..i'm glad dami inputs about this here. locally avail vvt engine din habol ko (honda b-, 4age20v black/silver), MIVEC, ung SR16VE baka walang makasagot kasi uber rare dito sa atin yan, sr20ve, ganun din ba?...of all VVT engines here sa atin, nissan is the most silent one. parang tipong enthusiast talaga nakakaalam..

sure kasi na local honda fanatics will also brag CVT as their first.

i never expected these replies nga e...just keep them comming.. also, para din ito sa mga gusto malaman kung anu ang VVT engine advange/disadvantge between the manufactures, not just honda/toyota/mitsu...so including din mga european & american cars(if the americans use VVT..)

    ehehehe.

hmmm...i have never heard of any pure american engine that used any vvt system. meron nga ba?

back when the nsx surprised ferrari, they responded with the f355 and when asked why they did not use a system similar to vtec, they said that their 5valve/cyl system was superior to the vtec. read it in a road and track issue where they first tested the f355.

not an Engine Expert, but in Movies, Games and real Test videos, mas na-uuna po yung Nissan GTR Skyline. I have no Idea what kind of engine design ba siya... basta 2.7L
they probably just lower the vtec activation point...?

    the GT-R uses a 2.6L twin-turbo straight-six. aka RB26DETT.

hindi ba ferrari owns the highest HP/Liter at the moment? not sure kasi ako eh.

pero true, the japanese can pull some big numbers too.

alam ko nga non-vtec ung 1st batch ng nsx....kaya ko dinugtungan ng "if americans use VVT"...knowing them.... nothing replaces displacement ika nga...pero european and japanese, including koreans use vvt in almost new engines nila...

    rb26dett ang gtr, pero non-vvt pa to,rigth, just like 6a13 ng mitsu, only v ang mitsu...IS200 i think is a vvt engine na..straight 6 2.0/3.0L RWD!

hay the advantage rich oil-consuming countries!

right from the start eh vtec na yung nsx. iirc ito yung 1st mass-produced application ng honda f1 vtec.

lemme recheck the tamiya 1/24 NSX manual. andun yun eh. :D

i actually have that poor nsx in pieces. i painted it in car paint kasi, it went bad, so i soaked it in thinner. ayun, lumutong yung plastic and as i was scrubbing the paint off, it disintegrated
