Agree.
And any fuel "savings" you get from diesels are then spent for their more expensive maintenance cost versus their gasoline counterparts. However, over the long run, you will STILL have savings from getting diesels (thanks to lower oil prices and the low-end torque means staying >3,000RPM most of the time) over their gasoline counterparts.... just not that much according to what most people envision.

It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
