my brother's Ecosport seems to be displaying early signs of PowerShift DCT failure so i guess it's time to sell it before it turns into full-blown Power$hit

no specific requirements it'll be just for getting to work everyday, just 1 person in the car, 1km distance from home to work. they've got other cars.

i'm suggesting honda city or corolla but i think he wants to get another "crossover" coz it's the fashionable thing LOL it doesn't flood at all where he lives

so the options are the ff. no hybrids btw coz those are BS. not in metro manila so no coding benefits. no turbos. no GDI.

    1) corolla cross
    2) yaris cross
    3) br-v
    4) hr-v
    5) creta
    6) tucson
    7) CX-3

seltos (KX3) is interesting but seems to be a flop. raize and stonic kx1 are too small

    What about Nissan Kicks?

I'm also looking at this segment to replace an old sedan.

if there are no must-have specifications,
just get a basic, cheap one, then.

Jimny!!! He'll appreciate it more once owned than what's on paper. Ask anyone who has 1.

i'm not a fan of hybrids. the theme for this new car is simplicity and reliability

best option talaga is Corolla now all variants have 1.8 engine. international model pa, not some substandard asean stuff or honda city, all variants with Honda Sensing. pero gusto daw crossover haha

after riding in my jimny he's not a fan LOL. also it's a lot harder to get a jimny a/t these days via cash transaction coz the GL/AT variant is gone

    some thoughts on the options:

    1) corolla cross - ideal size, international model pa

    2) yaris cross - asean model, probably substandard LOL

    3) br-v - kinda long, and underpowered

    4) hr-v - base model underpowered

    5) creta - even the top variant has 2 airbags only. this is BS

    6) tucson -

    7) CX-3 -

Riding & driving are 2 very different experiences. The Jimny relatively shines more w/ time(we've an old 43, ruggedly used, clocking close to 100k & still drives really solid) ...when 1 gets to see others start to age & clunk. On tight spaces, unforgiving rough patches, 1'll be grateful for the live axles. The far-between repair episodes, besides the regular fluid changes, are often taken for granted.
The Jimny is practically a go anywhere, anytime, any weather mini old school LandCruiser, so ideal for solo or 2person daily.
Comfort? Can be had via suspension tweaks. On the 43, the OME combo of no-load 74 springs & 43 dampers makes it plusher than stock or any other subtly tricked out 1s I've tried....& the 74 is a much better platform w/ a lot more options.

The Corolla Cross seems like the most logical option. The Jimny is the most fun option (while being reliable and simple).

BR-V - not a fan pero these are my reasons...

Honda Badge = if you're not getting a Toyota, I guess Honda will provide the next best local support. L15 engine has been used since the previous Gen City (I think even longer).
It has Sensing... imagine 5 years later and you realize your car is not an EV/Hybrid... at least you have ADAS

You can get a TOTL car (kaso the drivetrain is entry level )
