If it's just an oil change, then it'll really be cheap, whether it's a Vios or any other car. The Vios uses 4L of oil, like most gas engines under 2-liters.
Filters and other consumables are also cheap for most mass-market brands. It only gets expensive for non-fleet cars if you're replacing suspension, engine, and AC components. These don't usually break down unless the car is over 5-7 years old. [emoji4]

This is why I like the gen 1 CRV over newer subcompact CUVs:
More space, higher ground clearance, more power, better proportions. All for 1/4 the price.
Yes it consumes more fuel, to the tune of an extra 1.5k/month, but I don't mind paying for more power. And besides, it'll take 35 years to recoup the price difference of the CRV vs an Ecosport. [emoji28]

November 30th, 2016 05:42 PM #63If d ka naman ganun ka pihikan and craving for all the gadgetry try looking into isuzu crosswind... The xuv and the sportivo.. Most will tell na luma ang makina and outdated ang design pero when it comes to raw power it can play with the game... Di ka naman siguro car racer na ang habol ay mala fast and the furious speed.. Matipid dn xa at 8-10 km/l on heavy traffic condition and 15-17 km/l at smooth flowing and clear traffic condition which is helpful kung pumupunta ka sa province... When it comes to maintenance,d ka magagrabe kasi isuzu yan, madami parts and less sa pera kasi madaming reputabe na talyer na gumagawa ng engine nya kasi hindi pa crdi and engine nya... Maingay nga lang kasi naka gear at hindi belt or chain.. It also has a respectable clearance. Hindi rin mainit sa mata ng mga carnaper.. This is one of my training vehicles nung nagsisimula palang ako mag maneho. If di ka sigurado sa sarili mo, get the automatic tranny.. And dahil first car to keep, pag nagasgasan mo mas madali magpaayos

I agree bro the rd1 is a timeless cuv, I still our 2001 crv manual in emerald green and the manual transmission paired with a real-time 4wd is a breeze to drive on weekends and this december will have its underchaassis componenets(shocks) replaced according to the recommendation of the dealer. It is as thirsty as the 1st gen expedtion at 4-6km/l
BTT:
TS my suggestion is go for the innova E 2.8at, it is powerful and it fits your requirements and heard they are giving 40k+ discount this coming december.
The crosswind xuv A/t or sportivo is my other suggestion for you maintenance is cheap and parts are readily available but expect it to be as fast and comfortable as Innova.

December 1st, 2016 12:13 AM #66Thanks everyone! Learned a lot (though a little bit overwhelmed)! The wife and I have decided to get a XUV/SPORTIVO! Problem now is deciding whether to get a new or used one..

December 1st, 2016 01:22 AM #67If you are gonna get a brandnew Crosswind here is my 2cents, coming from someone who, due to very "unique" requirements given to me, got a new one this month.
Firstly, I cannot in good conscience recommend the Sportivo. For that price, even with the 75k discount... mag Innova ka na lang please or look at the Avanza if you wanna save a bit.
Secondly, realize that there are 0 modern safety features, seatbelt at dasal lang meron mo.
Also everything is very "Jurassic"... 1 din AV, slide controls for the AC, kahit coinbox mo walang ilaw. Keep an eye out for the seatbelt too, sobrang taas kasi yung buckle pag di mo nabantayan pag release mo tatama sa salamin.
NVH insulation is also 0, maingay siya, good luck na may maintidihan ka sa radyo mo at a reasonable volume level while moving. Though my partner says medyo naging white noise yung dating after a while and nakakatulog naman siya.
Now, the nice things about it for me is.. its actually very fun/"funny" to drive but more because the novelty of driving a car that was already on sale before I even started learning how to drive, feeling ko parang binigyan ako ng "classic" car ehehe
Also for me its just as or even slightly more comfortable than the previous gen Fortuner.
Now afaik, pa phase out na daw yung XUV, 2 na lang meron nila sa factory at white pa yung natira after kumuha kami (don't get the white). Of course it could be "sales talk" because mas gusto nila bentahan kami ng Sportivo pero for the 100k+ difference backup sensors and camera lang naman talaga noteworthy na difference and we preferred the jump seats rather than the front facing 3rd row in the Sportivo.
Sa akin lang, kung medyo mabigat cashout for the Innova, have a look at the Avanza 1.5G.

December 1st, 2016 09:14 AM #70to the point of sounding like i'm on toyota's payroll (i'm not) :
"wala pa akong nakikilalang hindi nasiyahan dahil pinili niya ang innova."
It's looking a lot like a certain cruiser with that color scheme.
