November 30th, 2016 08:55 AM #52I second this.
To the ts, im not sure if in the 16k monthly you have already factored in fuel/toll expenses (kasi batangas), maintenance fees, registration/insurance fees, parking fees, etc because they could really pile up. I agree that the brand new innova, or whatnot are excellent cars/choices but if you have to stretch your budget it's not worth the regular financial stress you will be experiencing.
Best choice is get 2nd hand. Then focus your resources on the more important things like education ng child mo and the house. Con lang nito is of course minimal ang alam mo sa kotse baka maloko ka. Bring a friend or mechanic na lang to check the car before purchase.
Another option is get a cheaper brand new car. Kung automatic lang even the econo cars have that already. Yung ground clearance is overrated imho. Few years ago na pangit kalsada paakyat ng sagada I saw picantos na obviously overloaded but got there anyway. Scrapes here and there, sure but their wheels didnt fall off. Just know the limits of the vehicle and drive accordingly. I'm not saying you get an econo car. What im saying is you might be missing out on other great options at your price point or lower. Of all the places ive been to, bilang lang ang lugar na alam kong hindi kaya puntahan ng sedan. So don't use the exemption to decide. I doubt if i.offroad mo naman vehicle mo...

November 30th, 2016 09:05 AM #53Not really bad choices imho kung di ka maselan. Very tough and rugged vehicles. It is very engaging to drive a manual auv in rush hour traffic. Pag sobrang ok nvh, auto trans, too comfortable, aantukin ka lang. Hahaha. Sorry for the OT.

November 30th, 2016 10:00 AM #55Why not get a vios 1.5G and save the rest of your cash for other more important things?
It's cheap (relatively)
Durable
Easy to maintain
Abundant in spare parts
Good on fc
Big enough for your growing kid.

I find the Vios G unnecessary. It doesn't offer anything special over the 1.3E, except for a tad more power. But the 1.3E is sufficient for daily driving unless you like going above 160 kph frequently. The Vios E is a great starter car since it fits most buyers' needs at an affordable price point.
For the price of the Vios G, other alternatives are better. The City VX is also easy to maintain with abundant parts, is durable, priced the same as the Vios, but with more space, more power, and way more toys. The Ecosport Trend offers more toys too with the critical benefit of a higher ride height, though the transmission could be an issue in the long run. Even Toyota's own Altis G gives the Vios G a run for its money because it has much more space, power, and class compared to its subcompact brother, all for just a slightly higher price tag.

November 30th, 2016 10:42 AM #59For a new vehicle owner. i will get a Toyota Vios G AT or an Avanza G AT. for highway driving the Avanza might be not as 'agile' as a Vios G. I have a Vios G AT its very easy to maintain parts are everywhere , sa gas station ko lang change oil 1k+ lang gastos ko. and mas tipid sa fuel compared to the ASX.

I have a digital gauge that measures, among other things, engine coolant temp. 90% of the time,...
