I dont believe in this CAGI. Pera-pera lang yan.
While the CAGi makes some money from advertising, it's just sufficient to run the testing session. Logistics, testing, catering and auditing all cost money. Individual CAGI members don't receive any renumeration from participation... in fact, some people do so much work there, they deserve to be paid for their contributions.

It's impossible to buy the awards because the award judging is done by anonymous voting... about 15-20 people voting at any one test-session. It's not like the voting is by paid text-messages... While I'm personally surprised by two or three winners, that's how the voting came out... and a lot of the voting was very, very close, with the winner being decided by fractional points.

Like carlocaraddict always says... don't judge a car unless you drive it. And that's how CAGI's PCOTY is judged... by how a car drives. Doesn't matter if it's not the newest, not the most high-tech... if it drives better, looks better and rides better, it'll get the win. Though this last part makes the Hilux win strange... though from what I recall, pick-up testing included a scored off-road portion for the 4x4s, so it must have impressed the heck out of the off-road judges.

While some of my personal bets didn't win, I can understand why they lost... it's a simple matter of creature comforts. Don't matter if the Honda Jazz is 1,000,000 times better than the Vios... the VIos rides softer and has softer seats. Apparently, for many judges, that's a deal-breaker.
Thus the X6 lost because, despite being a technological marvel, it has a restricted rear seat and doesn't ride as softly as a Mercedes, the CR-V lost because, despite the softer new suspension, it's not as supple as the Forester or Outlander... etcetera, etcetera, etcetera (we own a CRV... and while it's a great car, it could be a little softer still).

The Fort and Montero are "Executive" in the sense that they're SUVs and they cost more than 1m yet under 2m (SUVs over 2 million are Luxury, or something... over 5m is "Exotic", I think... but I don't remember the price cut-off).

    ---

While some automotive journalists do have their "loyalties" you can't claim all of them are crooked. And that's a whole lot of journalists voting on the CAGI.

+1 ako dito. Ex. the Toyota Hi Lux 4x4, Total Yemen has 30 units of these great pick-ups (2500, 4x4, D4D). Off-road, rough-road, 30deg slope, very dependable sila kahit loaded kami (O.T.).

I prefer the Monetro Sport kasi pag nakikita ko yung Santa Fe I remember the police in Yemen, Santa Fe kasi ang service nila dun. Fortuner, parang super laki nya for its engine. Mas sporty ang Montero Sport.

Nope, just plain police patrol car (blue color), naka park sa mga checkpoint sa Sana'a City. In Dubai, Sta Fe cost around 79,000 dirhams, multiply that by 13 pesos per dirhams you will get around 1,050,000. Same price ng LX Carens here in Phils. Fortuner and Montero Sport are considered higher in class sa Dubai, don't know why.

Siguro nga proven talaga ang SF pang habol ng mga bad elements of the society. And to me this is good news. Ma-aasahan pala ang SF as a chase car in middle east countries na mainit.
