The 2 Mitsubishi plants in Cainta, Rizal are currently being refurbished... Is it because they have plans to assemble the G-wagon here? Or, will the G-Wagon be imported like the Grandis?

The Strada G-Wagon will most likely be released and priced to compete directly with the Ford Everest. The G-Wagon's the only unit whose specs come close to the Everest - rear leaf spring suspensions, tailgate mounted spare, non-common rail diesel engine. But, the G-Wagon has an ace up it's sleeve... It'll be riding on the popularity and reliability of it's big brother, the Pajero!

if price is not an issue,
toyota, mitsu, izusu, at ford...in that order...

kung kasali presyo sa issue.... malamang eh pinakamura yung ford everest at pinakamahal yung toyota...so reverse naman yung order....tapos toss up sa mitsu at izusu depende sa presyo.....herherherherher

Its hard to decide based on specs and pictures. To finally decide need to see the product in person. But for now I vote for Isuzu MU-7. It looks more spacious than the Fortuner.

Hello xpac! Kwento naman about your Fortuner ride! How was it? Engine noise? Suspension feel? Interior ambiance? Exterior bulk?

    Please do tell us!

I heard that nissan is also having their own model to compete with the above. My wife went to nissan bacolod to have her car serviced and the chief mechanic their told her that its coming out on the 3rd quarter. we're planning kasi to get an SUV on july and our original choice is, or rather was, the everest but now medyo magulo na isip namin kung ano kunin. I told my wife maybe we'd go with fortuner if the price range falls within our budget. but then again it could be one of the above depending on what each one could offer in terms of everything as well as which would be out first on or before july. pero kung hindi lalabas yung iba we'll probably end up with our original choice which is everest as it's already in the market.

All I can confirm is that the Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-7 are set for a Philippine Launch this year, 2005.

A Nissan SUV (prolly the Paladin/X-Terra) would probably be imported from China, as news is that it'll be assembled there. I did, however, here news from a little birdie of the probable release of the Nissan Murano (SUV) and the Nissan Teana (4D Sedan) by early next year.

The Mitsubishi G-Wagon release is also unsure, as it is, IMO, expected to affect the Montero Sport sales.

Actually, the Innova is not an AUV... With the flexible seating and flexible cargo space size, it is really an MPV.

Technically, an AUV is defined as a low cost vehicle with a seating capacity of 10 persons... The term AUV was used and abused, in order to secure full tax exemptions for certain vehicles, thereby lowering their cost. The term AUV died last 2003 when the new excise tax for vehicles was implemented.

Toyota Fortuner. . . but when Nissan X-Terra comes out this year. . . well that's the time for me to think hard which one to choose between the two.
