Yup! I failed to consider that Toyota would remove several amenities from the RP Variants.

But consider this... The price would indeed reach P1.9M if the following were added (along with the consequent excise tax):

    - Steering wheel with integrated remotes for Radio and Driver Info
    - Full leather seats and door panels
    - Back-up sensors
    - Alarm with immobilizer
    - 6CD In-Dash 2DIN stereo
    - Wheel well covers
    - Additional cup-holder/ash tray cups
    - Visors with lit vanity mirrors

All the above are missing in the RP variant.

I don't think the amenieties you have mentioned would cost an additional P700,000.

Roughly P350,000... Add that to the P1.498M 4x4 3.0V Fortuner and, voila, P1.85M. Which is nearly P1.9M adding insurance and registration...

You should have noted in my post that I was computing the price, in Philippine Peso, of the 4x4 3.0V Thai variant of the Fortuner. They didn't come out with 4x2 units in Thailand kasi.

well, it doesnt really matter now does it hehe, but yeah, those items won't add up to 350k. kahit 200k hindi pa rin. all those will only add to around 100k or a little above 100k

You guys have to remember that the excise tax is graduated... The higher the cost of the stock vehicle, the higher the resulting tax. The additional items may not reach P250,000 but it's net effect inclusive of the excise tax will raise the vehicle's value.

But, why am I explaining myself? Just be happy that the Fortuner costs less than my early estimate! Lumalabas may sobra kayong P400,000 'coz you may have budgetted for P1.9M...

Just "spoofing" what we know about government graft and corruption - not a personal insult on anyone in particular. Mahirap maging balat-buyas. Hehe. :praning:

If you don't want to insult, then don't "spoof". There are also government employees here in Tsikot.

    1. Toyota - Fortuner (3.0 D4D Common Rail, 4WD)
    2. Isuzu - MU-7 (3.0 i-TEQ Super Common Rail, 4x4, 4x2)
    3. Mitsubishi - Strada G-Wagon (2.8 4M40 Turbo Intercooler)

Add these to Ford's Everest and we'll be seeing a very competitive mid-sized SUV market!

Given a choice, what particular unit would you consider acquiring?

Ummm... The poll should read Toyota Fortuner instead of Ford Fortuner... Mr. Administrator, can you have it changed? I dunno how...
Why is the Hyundai Santa Fe not included here? I think it is also a medium sized, 7 seater SUV. I'm sure it'll be the winner here if it is included in the poll list.

This thread was started in 2005, the Santa Fe was not yet in the market at that time.
