    Kung pang-company fleet....

I know na masmahal mag maintain ng Honda vs. maintaining a Toyota. Pero in the case of the Jazz vs. Vios, malaki ba ang price gap nila in terms of maintenance? Kasi I'm leaning towards the looks of the Jazz, both have good mileage (1.3L), maintenance costs lang ang in question.

    TIA

i had the Jazz 1.3S CVT, dunno if this will make a difference in your decision but when the battery expired i had to bring it to the casa for replacement. may "adjust adjust" "program program" pa daw sa CVT. syempre additional ka-tsing, ka-tsing (cash register sound hehe)

hindi sya "plug & drive" ... as most of us are used to when replacing car batteries

... hindi na po ako Jazz owner ngayon ;-)

The Honda 1.3 MT would be less difficult to maintain than the CVT. And it has a longer oil change interval than most cars (10,000 kms between oil changes).

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

So CVT has a downside after all. Is this procedure also necessary for the CVT Lancer?

Tsaka oo, paano pag nasa remote area ka nga at naubusan ng batt Jazz CVT mo? Di pwedeng i-series yan?

    to all,
actually its not a downside. cvt just needs reprogramming that even the owner can do it himself/herself. i have a copy of the procedure and its really easy to do. no need to pay anyone to do it for you.

PMS for i-dsi engines average about 2-3K..only when you're going to change the spark plugs will the cost goes up. coz the i-dsi engine uses 8 spark plugs. so PMS would amount to around 7K. but hey, you could always buy your own spark plugs and not from the casa...that would lessen the price to around 5-6K...

It's gonna be a close call if you have both serviced at the dealership.

But if you have your own fleet master and/or motor pool mechanic, you will have an edge with the cheaper VIOS parts.

Lagi na syang naka-on after mo magpalit ng battery.

Dunno re:the Jazz though. Pero as far as charging the batt through series, pwede naman. So, pwede mo pa maiuwi kung sakaling remote area ka nga or if that's too far from reality, well, let's just say nearest casa.

By perception , mataas talaga maintenance cost ng Honda due to 10,000 KM PMS as compared to Toyota na 5,000 Kms. lang. But in the long run , owners of both vehicles won't notice the difference.

the casa is just cheking the ECU if meron ba makita error code... but pwede naman magpalit ka ng batt and idrive mo agad... chineck nila kung meron trouble code ang trans mo or the engine kc electronic na tlga lahat... but still i would go for the jazz.. i know some med rep naka vios and naka city... mas tomatagal yun mga city kesa vios daw... hehehehe.... and same engine and transmission lng ang jazz and city......

Sa akin lang, if you religiously service the car every 5,000 kms. and do not use it for racing or anything extreme, just stick to mineral based oil. Castrol mineral based oil (the one I used in the Vitara), Php430.00 lang ang 4L. So kahit palitan ko ng palitan, it will never be close sa cost ng synthetic.

For reference, a normal service stop for a Pajero does not cost more than Php2,000.00.

my rig's sparkplugs are changed every other PMS (at least according to the receipt hehehehe), so in my case every 10K km/6 months

Sir, papaano ka naka conclude na mas mahal ang longer period intervals kaysa shorter period interval (10K KM PMS or 6 months and 5K KM PMS or 3 months which ever comes first)?

In the case of shorter period interval, ideally you visit service shop 4 times a year while in the longer period interval its only twice a year. The point is you pay for the labor cost everytime you visit the service shop. So for example for the ordinary maintenance of change oil and filter, you change 4 times a year. IMO
