Hindi naman panget. In Japan, most cars have pretty dark tint for the rear windows and windshield, but have much lighter tinting up front. Many states in the US have strict legislation on front tint as well so people tend to use the really dark stuff at the back like the Japanese do.

My only issue with tint is it makes driving at night tougher. You'll want to keep the front windows and windshield relatively clear.

If you drive on the highway at night, not even light tint will cut it. For best safety, no tint on the windshield, with medium tint on the upper 1/3rd as a sunshade, light tint on the front windows, dark tint on the rear windows, and medium on the rear windshield. You can use dark on the rear windshield if you're good at backing up, or go lighter if not.

Sure, it's cooler inside the car if you have tint on the front windshield, since it's the biggest single piece of glass on the car, but the sacrifice in safety is not worth the convenience.

mas ok ung rear and front - light
    lahat ng gilid - medium

hndi naman mahahalata yan pag nakakabit na, mahirap ung lahat medium, mahirap gamitin sa gabi

If you put mediums on the front windows, you have to be sure to have a cut-out for the side mirrors, as it can be quite difficult to park at night looking through tinted glass. And there are occassions when you don't want to roll down your windows to park.

Sorry naman for that guys. I didn't mean for the last pages of this thread to veer away from the topic (well it already has since initially I was torn between 1.3 Jazz and Swift only, hehe ) I thought of not starting a new thread since it's just a petty concern.

As usual, thank you to everyone who provided their input.

    * Niky - you're right, there will be places wherein rolling down your windows to park is not advisable. Wouldn't it look tacky if I ask for a cut out so I can see the side mirrors?

    * Projector - thanks for the suggestion. I will probably go that way. Light black front and rear windshields. medium black on all 4 windows.

    Thanks again!

If the tint is really dark, yeah, it'll be obvious... which is why I suggest light black tint for the front windows.

Light fronts medium rears is what we have on our cars (but silver, not black... )

    Jazz GE ?

You'll have a hard time driving if your car has manyak tints on it. Especially, pag hindi ka sanay.

Magic tint na lang or medium. ;)

Having dark tints all over can really be a pain in the ass when parking, especially in mall parkings where visibility is limited. Couple times you really have to roll down your windows.

Our old AE101 had medium black tints all over and light tints on the windshield and it really was a problem. But since it's often used in broad daylight at noon, its net useability was still positive. Our current Altis has magic tints all over that are menyek tint level as well, but its overall effect is that a sunny day looks cloudy, and a cloudy day looks gloomy, and nighttime is always like a new moon. Better than standard tints but still takes some getting used to.

Comments ko about my new ride:

    1) For the past 3 days I've been driving it (270 km) ang reading ng FC ko 8.8. Baket ang baba?

    2) It's a good thing I got the 1.5 instead of the 1.3 BUT bitin paden ako sa hatak ng 1.5, howelz... that's a different story

    3) I didn't take into consideration that walang "auto power lock" pag andar/arangkada ng kotse. I know that Vios has this. Pag lagpasmo ng 20kph yata, automatic nag lock ang doors.

    4) Walang button or whatever sa drivers door to lock all the passengers doors. I have to use the actual lock to do this. Hassle. Sa Civic ba meron nun?

    5) Hindi maganda ang speakers. Sobrang tunog lata. As in.

    6) No space sa back board (tama ba?) to place speakers in. Palit backboard kesa butasan yung stock. hayz...

    7) The whole door panel has to be unscrewed for me to change the speakers. Ganita ba lahat ng modelong kotse?

    1. Kung puro naman traffic I think its fair enough. One thing is for sure the new City and Jazz is no longer sure double digits unlike yung 1st gen. The Vios/Yaris pair is now more fuel efficient than the new City/Jazz pair unlike dati...

    2. Honda has very poor low end torque, at low revs mahina sya slow accelration. So to get the performance out of it you need to rev the engine around 3000RPM and above (at least with my experience with my Civic FD)

    3. AFAIK wala namang auto speed sensing lock maskin Vios din wala. I don't think merong ganung klaseng feature sa sub-compact genre. Normally mga compact cars and above meron even low end compact cars don't have them.

    4. Sa Civic meron nun. Central lock tawag duon. The Vios has it and the Yaris has it.

    5. Stock speakers and stock HU's suck. PERIOD!

If it's city traffic... fair enough. The new range of 2.0 diesels, which have better highway economy than the Jazz/City pair (a realistic 20 km/l) only get 7-8 in the city, depending on traffic.

    1. Mataas pa yang 8.8 sa city driving. When I first got my jazz I averaged at around 6-7 lang.

    2. Nanibago din ako coming from a Toyota Revo Diesel Manual kasi sanay ako hatak agad. Thing is once I'm on third gear in my Jazz dun nagsisimula ang ligaya sa hatak IMO.

    3. Yeah sad to say wala nga. Pero there's a way indicated sa manual to do this pero hindi nagwowork. When I had my 1k check up I asked the SA about this, they're willing to fix this but I have to leave my car sa casa. Eh I need my car so hindi ko na nabalik for them to fix daw the speed sensing door-locks until now.

    4. The Jazz has this.

    5. Onga, mga experts ask lang would there be a really good difference kung papalitan yung speakers pero stock HU pa din?

Hmmm give it time. The engine might still be tight. Also it depends what kind of driving you're doing it in - City? Highway? Free-flowing or stop-and-go?

    2) It's a good thing I got the 1.5 instead of the 1.3 BUT bitin paden ako sa hatak ng 1.5, howelz... that's a different story
Honda automatics on the GE Jazz and GM City have this ridiculous knack of upshifting way too early, supposedly heavily biased toward economy. This bias can be so pronounced that the engine never gets to use its torque when you need it (overtaking for instance). This is what I was telling you about a few pages before. Apparently the 1.5s aren't immune to it either...

    3) I didn't take into consideration that walang "auto power lock" pag andar/arangkada ng kotse. I know that Vios has this. Pag lagpasmo ng 20kph yata, automatic nag lock ang doors.
Nope, you probably had the Corolla Altis in mind.

    4) Walang button or whatever sa drivers door to lock all the passengers doors. I have to use the actual lock to do this. Hassle. Sa Civic ba meron nun?
It's been this way with the GD Jazzes and Cities. The FD Civics get that button - actually to be correct about it it's a rocker switch.

    5) Hindi maganda ang speakers. Sobrang tunog lata. As in.
In general, stock speakers suck. However a head-unit upgrade can do wonders with them. If the source of the audio is bad, no matter what you put down the line it'll still sound bad.

    6) No space sa back board (tama ba?) to place speakers in. Palit backboard kesa butasan yung stock. hayz...

    7) The whole door panel has to be unscrewed for me to change the speakers. Ganita ba lahat ng modelong kotse?
Yep that's just about correct. Even my GD Jazz's door cards have to be disassembled whole to reach the speakers.
