Kidding aside, the advertised flood wading capacity is often very much underrated, so it really cannot be gauged from that. Many high ride height vehicles claim a wading depth of 500mm, these include the Innova, Santa Fe and Strada. Though the real wading capabilities of these three would be be quite different from one another, and definitely more than 500mm, which is barely knee deep. I've seen an Innova wade headlight-level flood, and Strada's and Montero's wade hood level floods. That would be around waist level, or more or less 700-900mm already.

September 26th, 2013 05:37 AM #16Sirs,
Correct me if I'm wrong, pero from what I understand why the new Ranger claims it can wade through 800mm of water depth without worries, is because of the engine's architecture how high the ECU chip, air intake, and the alternator is placed under the hood. Samahan mo pa ng 235mm ground clearance(higher exhaust pipe) and how the cabin is well sealed. So kahit mas mababa pa siguro ng 500mm ang wading capacity ng isang vehicle, basta mataas ang placing at hinde mababasa ng tubig ang mga sensitive na piyesa under the hood, I think kaya ng sasakyan lusungin ang mga leg or waist deep floods dito sa metro manila.

That's pretty much it... even if a car's intake will allow it to ford higher floods, there are items in the engine bay that aren't sufficiently waterproofed for long immersion in floods.

Replaced with the Pilot Sport 5 na ata, but the available sizes aren't yet as broad as the PS4.
