Yup line is indeed long. The wife and i were actually able to reserve for the xv before. She found my recommendation pretty sound naman dati. Were into our 2nd month of waiting. Maybe the reason why the wife is considering the other options is natatagalan na siya. Women talaga.

    Hello Allenjo,

Nasubukan ko na ang CRV and CX-5. Masasabi ko lang. Maganda silang dalawa pero masmaganda ang CX-5 with the features and lalo na yung Sky-Active. Maporma pa siya with everyone. Mahina pa sa uminom ng gas.

Problema doon sa XV, di na siya sobrang maganda for the value against the competition.

Sorry.

Anyway, sasabihin ko lang. Mahirap pag ayaw talaga nung driver yung bibilhin na car. Siya naman magddrive, alam ko rin na gusto mo what's best for her but if she doesn't like it and she ends up in a car she doesn't want, na pinili ng husband. Magsisisi rin yun everytime she hops into the car.

Parang ako this year, hirap ako maghanap talaga. Finoforce ako ng family ko mag Fortuner o Montero kasi masbagay daw sakin since I'm 6'1 and only 20 y/o. Gusto ko talaga isang Sedan o yung CRV at first.

At the end of the day, di na lang ako bumili ng kotse at pinaayos nalang namin yung 1995 E36 na ginagamit ko as my learning car.

It is your wife's car and I know you are being the "smart" shopper pero yung choices niyo naman ng cars okay naman lahat sila so either way di ka magkakamali sa kahit anong kotse na nasa listahan niyo.

    Just my 2 cents.

So now its down to 3. Its the:

    XV Premium
    Forester XS
    CX 5 AT

    Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Cancelled the CRV due to the inferior features....too underspec'd for its class.

Your point is very well taken. Just wanted to extract the most out of the purchase. I presume your single being 20 yrs. old. You'll find yourself in a similar crossroad bro. But i do presume as well that you're a smart shopper too. Being in your predicament, i would do the same and just spruce up my E36...that is if i ever have 1.

beg to differ sir. i own an XV. and i will say matipid sya. compared to other 2.0. i get, worse, 8km/liter city driving stop and go. i think you mistook the XV with the old engine na ej20. then new fb20 is geared towards fuel efficiency. plus the cvt tranny helps a lot with that too.

but with the fb20 engine on the forester, thats a different story. heavier body. thats thirsty at 6km/liter city driving.

Yep, naiintindihan ko rin problems mo.

Swerte si Mrs. na ganito asawa niya na gusto talaga what's best for her!

Judging from what you told us about your wife. Its age and the price cannot match the value of a CX-5.

Nakakatulong talaga yun. Di naman sa maaaksidente si missis pero para safety lang talaga in the future.

Porma.

its ok sir. kung xt turbo naku 4km/liter yun hahaha.

XV very good. except for the boot space as Allenjo has also noted. this i must say is the best all around car i have driven so far for my needs. i go to farm lands with rocks and mud roads, and hard pack roads and irrigation roads. and also use this as school bus for my kid.

havent had a problem yet. and im already nearing the 5,000km mark.

elaborate ko lang po yung "my needs" hehehe. i drive a minimum of 80kms per day. this is mix highway and rough terrain. ive always like a car for its sportiness and light driving feel. but i also need a high ground clearance car for rough road driving. as ive come from a dmax, alterra, grand vitara, , altis, forester (sf5), civic SiR. those always have compromises. either gas for the forester, or low ground clearance for the altis or civic, bumpy ride for the vitara, unstable at high speeds dmax (compared to cars). big and long body alterra. the XV is the crossover of all those. its in the middle.

as for the boot space. for occasional long travels. ill be putting a thule on top of it. that solves it.

Wow. Okay yung kotse ah.

Thanks so much. Isa isa na i narrow down yung choices from the 3 and you are right in saying that the forester loses out in "newness".

This was what i was waiting for...an account from an actual owner of the xv. We do share the same sentiment sir...parang jack of all trades in a way yung xv and that was what i was telling my wife sans the boot of course. I dont know din but the xv really tickles my fancy. I guess its the AWD din kasi. I was even telling the wife that the car was had a "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" character. Sublime but when things go rough, this thing can get it done.

Oh you should see it in white and silver....now were talking. Generally, 1/4 of the XV height is black (fender cladding and lip, wheels) kaya you should see the contrast with a light colored body shade....ganda.

I have to agree with you that the red cx5 does look good...better than the hero color.

And all that black plastic is a good thing: minor scrapes are easier to hide

    * ervin...hmmm. Eto based sa research with the auto company i used to work with, subaru is one of the least targetted brands na ma carjack or carnap for the following reasons:

    1. Its a mainstream brand abroad, but in the phils, medyo niche brand sya hence there is limited market to sell off chopped parts.
    2. Due to the "niche" image, car jackers shy away from brands that are hard to sell or dispose off. Para hugas kamay na agad sila so to speak.
    3. Due to the limited number of subaru vehicles on the road compared lets say to toyota, it's "hard to blend in" to make a very clean getaway. Easy to spot.

This was in 2007 pa from interviews with police stations with high occurence of carjack/carnap data by our research team. But that was in 07 pa.

John that is true considering my wife's penchant for "accidental" scrapes. Her ever famous line is "Ewan ko ba, dinatnan ko na lang yung kotse ganyan na. Hmmmp!!!"

Maybe i should start renaming the thred to "How can i convince the wife to ge the XV". Just the same, im keeping an open mind. The CX5 does look good din overall. I just have to warm up to the "smiling whale shark mouth" grille it has. No offense to the cx5 owners out there.
