The portion of the body from hood to front passenger cabin is crumpled out of shape easily. The roof bent quickly with the force and the front wheel intruded extensively into the cabin, which will definitely lead to serious leg injuries or even loss.

Looks worse than the Ranger. The impact travels all the way into crumpling the entire roof of the cabin. It appears the front wheel does not intrude into the cabin. The body looks like its about to be disattached from its frame.

2. ride - strada was the best in the class until navara came. why? to smoothen the ride of strada i replace the rear absorbers with OME shocks. but before that its like a horse.
until now my navara is still stock. there are no reason for me to replace this and this.

I thought the shocks were replaced? So it's not stock anymore. Even a Fortuner will have better ride when the suspension is modified.

Which pickup has the largest cargo bed? Navarra or Ranger. I think its obviously Navarra. The only problem with the Navarra is that users have been reporting scrapping here and there due to the low ground clearance. 4x4ph tested it and the Navarra had the lowest departure and approach angles (amongst the competition). Seems like the Navarra is the best choice but there are these niggling issues, such as it is too wide or too long (inconvenient in city driving), scrapping, high price, etc...

My friend and I went to Subic via SCTEX to test his 6 month old Fortuner (loaded with alcohol injection). We were running around 170-180kmh and easily overtaking everyone...yeah we were fast and we thought that only fast cars can ovetertake us until this Navarra out of nowhere just overtook us as if we were running at 80kph. That was damn fast for a pick up!

The 4X4 Navara has the highest ground clearance (per specs sheet),
but since it also has the longest wheelbase, it is, therefore has a lower (ramp)_break-over_angle and overhang (front and rear).

I think you should look at payload capacity instead of cargo bed size.

The Ranger has stiffer springs... and... more importantly... stronger shock absorbers. It can take the load.

The Navara is halfway between the Ranger/Hilux set and the Strada... It's tuned more for ride comfort, like the Strada, but is not tuned for a floaty ride (like the Strada seems to be), so it's a good compromise for those looking for a family/work truck.

Though, if you're getting it as a personal truck (no family) that's to be used for work, the Ranger is a much better choice, personally.

RE: crash safetly... you can't add up the stars and say the Navara gets 9 total... so it protects pedestrians better... so? Doesn't matter to you if you, personally, are dead... but if you're prone to speeding in school zones and recklessly speed into drunk jaywalkers at night, it's nice to know your chances of killing other people is relatively small... or not... if you want modern crash safety, the Strada is the only pickup on the market with a modern crash-safety cell. The Ranger and Navara are using modified versions of old crash-cell designs which are really not as structurally sound.

Navara and Ranger. Power corrupts... hehehe...

but it's all about what you want to do... the Strada is not very good as a pickup... small bed, soft rear suspension... but it's very, very good as a family vehicle.

The Ranger is a workhorse.

The Navara is somewhere in between... it trades off the grunty low end of the Ranger for smoother high-revving power. The 2.5 may claim more on-paper power and torque than the 3.0 Ranger, but their performance is quite similar, and the Ranger has a broader spread of low-end power. But both trucks are fantastic to drive.

Though if I had to ride in the backseat... I'd pick the Navara over the Ranger, anyday.

niky, what can you comment on the "scarpping issues" with the Navara? Nissan claims in its brochure that it has the highest ground clearance in its class, yet the 4x4ph website kept on bemoaning getting scrapes with each movement. I think bec. of its poor approach and departure angles, these are the areas that kept getting scraped and not the vital parts underneath (shaft, gas tank, etc..)????
