March 26th, 2014 04:13 PM #72Buti na rin tinanggal yang 3.6L (4BE1), mahina yang makinang yan, lahat ng NKR namin na ganyan ang makina napalitan na ng either 4BC2 o 4BD1 na Isuzu. Yung nagiisang NPR namin (6 wheels) yung 4.3 ang pinalit namin na makina (4HF1) mahal nga lang yung ganitong 4.3, nasa 240k yata ang kuha namin, still better than just selling it and buying another NPR with 4.3 engine.
Kung yang 3.6L (4BE1) lang, walang binatbat yan sa makina ng lumang modelong Canter (4D31). Lahat ng Canter namin orig pa ang makina. Pero yung 4.3L (4HF1) maganda yan, malakas.Last edited by ronw123w124; March 26th, 2014 at 04:34 PM.

March 26th, 2014 07:56 PM #74nabasa ko rin to dati pero i think mas ok pa rin talaga to kaysa china trucks. yung ibang supplier namin JAC ang truck nila, 1 year pa lang puro kalawang na ang ilalim. puro sira.
5 months na sobida truck namin, ok na ok pa naman. although there's some minor issues. sana pangmatagalan talaga to

Air21 is using a fleet of China "JBC or Jin Bei" delivery trucks. Lets see how long it will last.
Amongst the Chinese, Foton is probably the biggest company around.

^agree. Kahit sa mainland China, mukhang Foton yung pinaka ok sa kanila. I didn't know na sa ibang municipalities 4000kg ang truck ban.

Went to the two showrooms today.
NKR comes with two engine options: 4JB1-TC (2.8) and 4HG1-T (4.6). Interestingly there are only 70 kgs difference in their payload capabilities (according to the brochure). Lots of redundancies in their lineup (ie. NHR 2.8, NKR 2.8, NKR 4.6 ).
Even the SA (who is obviously unknowledgeable) declares NKR 4.6 is not part of the truck ban.
=====
Canter is indeed made in Japan. Large shipping label on the front windshield declares "Made in Japan" . Batteries by Panasonic with Japanese markings on it. Fuel filter Made in Thailand.
2014 model comes with backup camera and along with the requisite price increase. FB body costs +170K more.
I prefer the Canter.
So far the SA gave me two deals:
1. 35K disc + Free LTO (worth 12,000 or something)
or
2. 50K disc (for approval), no free LTO.
Comes with the standard EWD.
No picking of end number for LTO. According to the SA, picking of last number causes the delays in plate delivery. But deep inside me thinking, LTO has been allowing cherry picking of last numbers (as well as any number combo) for more than 15 years already and its only recently when LTO had troubles with its supplier did the Delayed Plate Distribution Syndrome come about.Last edited by number001; March 29th, 2014 at 06:39 PM.

Any owners here with a Canter with FB body (made by Centro)? How does it stand up to the weather?
We have a 2011 L300 FB made by Metro trucks. The rear body is already showing manufacturing deficiencies this early - thin paint on roof (now spot surface rust), inside rust on the rear drip mould gutter, leaks from rear door, etc....

basti, as for your FE71 aluminum van, is it the composite type or the regular flat sheets with visible rivets? Hope you can PM me who made it for you.
How's the performance and reliability so far ? Casa serviced or own maintenance?

April 15th, 2014 09:21 PM #80We almost pulled the trigger on a brand new Canter, kaya lang may nagalok sa amin na 2008 model na local na Canter, when we looked at it, it was in decent condition although there are some issues that needs to be addressed, asking price was 630k, haggled down to 550k, mileage was less than 100k. We brought it home with us earlier today and sabi na rin nung driver na naguwi ganda pa raw ng hatak.
someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
