Yes, same truck. Hino doesn't deny their Toyota heritage.
But locally, a different company sells Toyota cars and Hino trucks so it's best they maintain a separate identity. I already get dizzy with Nissan Motors Philippines (NMPI) and Universal Motors Corp (UMC) already. hehehe
Btw, both our fire apparatus (a Tanker and a Pumper) are Mitsubishis.

February 15th, 2012 11:28 PM #33Haha~ Ibigsabihin ko kung rebadged Toyota ang Hino, would procuring its parts outside of the casa be more convenient?
Talking about fire apparatus, the fire department headquarters beside UST comes to mind. I remember passing by on foot once and went over to take a look at their vehicles. Puro tamad mga bumbero duon! May 2 ambulances, both converted Toyotas, one Hiace V6 and the other a Granvia V6 and then there's an Isuzu Forward firetruck. Lahat yan matic!

For consumables, there are third party replacements available for Hinos. But for replacement parts, I'm not sure.
Can't find even the minor stuff like headlamps, taillamps, etc. as easily. Sa Isuzu, the replacement battle is so fierce that things like replacement taillamps have become so cheap you'd think they're disposable already. hehehe. At least the neighborhood calibration shops say they have no problems handling Isuzu, Mitsubishi, or Hino.
For OEM parts, the Hino parts network is good. However, most operators choose third party parts to save on running costs. Toyota is a company that continues to make new parts even for models older than 15 years so long as there is a market for it.
RAHA Volunteers po yung nasa P.Noval. They are more well funded than my brigade. hehe.

Nissan sells rebadged Mazdas in the U.S. market. I wouldn't be surprised if they rebadged an Isuzu also.
Isuzu used to sell rebadged Honda Civics (EK body), too. Isuzu Gemini ang name.
Oh well, baka talagang Mitsu vs. Isuzu lang ang consider ng TS?

Yes considering the Canter FE. Lets hope Mitsubishi has a trade in promo again. I managed to get a trade-in value of 100K for a '90 L300 Cab chassis * 270,000kms - cargo box not included. 30K trade-in value of vehicle + 50K Mitsubishi trade-in subsidy/incentive + 20K won daily raffle prize.
But Mitsubishi locally manufactured L300 are disappointingly of poor quality. Cab underside, as well as other inner metal surface only received a brief pass of gray primer spray. There was already a small spot of surface rust that we just corrected ourselves instead of wasting time waiting for the CASA do an even worse job at it.
