May switch yan. Normally 4x2 mode lang siya with power to the front wheels.

Many thanks sa reply, sir. Bigla ko kasi naisip kasi meron ako nabasa somewhere though not sure if its for ford escape or different vehicle na parating naka 4x4 yung nabili nyang 4x4 na sasakyan.

Among the CUV class, the Rav4 is the only one I know of which uses a full time 4WD system.

So kumusta na car hunting mo? Which one did you choose?

Hi Sir & to our fellow tsikoteers, at the moment tribute & escape ang ina-eye namin ni misis. With our limited budget, naka-abang pa lang kami sa escape.

So far this is the cheapest 2.3L Tribute I can find: 05-series MAZDA TRIBUTE 4X2 A-T - Cars for sale NCR - AyosDito.ph don't fret, negotiable pa yan. With some prayer, you'd most likely be able to slash at least 20-30k, maybe even 50k.

Ayaw mo nung Starex with dual sunroof? Hehe~

About the 2.0L A/T variant. When you say poor performance due to underserving transmission, meaning po ba eh pumapalya ang shifting? (pasensya na po talaga at wala akong alam sa technical ng sasakyan) And, sunroof feature po ba is nasa 3L lang?

If ever i-disregard ko po ang sunroof, mas okay po ba to be settled in like the escape you have in your family na '03, 2.0XLT 4x4?
Sir, there's another option. A Mazda Tribute 2.3L, it has everything the 2.0L XLT but 4x4, 4x2 lang sya so it is lighter but has the sunroof of the 3.0L V6 Escape. The 2.3L plus FWD layout has better power to weight than the 2.0 4x4. So, in any event, i bet the Tribute 2.3L has better performance.

this is the actual interior of a 2.3L model. it has steering wheel audio controls too, not found in the Escape.

Btw, another Tribute exclusive is the puddle lamps, just on the running board (see those 2 separate lights below the doors?). They light your path as you enter and egress the vehicle. There's a small light below the side mirror that lights along with that feature. and it stays open for another 10-15 secs as you leave the car. neat. It has power antenna versus the standard fix raised antenna of the 2.0 Escape.
(Facelifted 2.3L Escape's has this though)

Ay sayang... Wala na pala. Kung ganon bakit di pa tinanggal? Oh well. Ganun lang naman yun eh. Tribute 2.3L for fuel efficiency and added features tapos Escape V6 for V6 performance, lower price and better looks. But then in between meron ding Tribute V6 which SHOULD give somewhat better gas mileage as compared to the Escape V6 since its just 4x2. Now regarding the Starex... It is not hard to drive one since maikli naman yung hood and there are backup sensors/backup mirror para dun sa likod. Its not really that long either, being shorter than the average midsize sedan. Its tall too so you have a good view of the road. Turbo diesel engine and high ground clearance means you are not afraid of floods (even when compared to CUVs like the Escape/Tribute).

Haha~ Ang mga babae kasi eh talagang mas nagpreprefer ng CUV since it will also look odd to drive a Starex alone to work for instance. Parang napakasayang ng space. Oh well, if you can live with the gas mileage, what's to stop you from getting a V6 Escape or Tribute? Mas makaka-enjoy karin since 206hp is 206hp no matter how you put it. Basta nalang drive with a VERY light foot to save kahit konti. If you want you can do the practice of tying an egg to the bottom of the accelerator pedal to discourage yourself from pressing too much. Driving without aircon saves a lot too, as long as the windows aren't open in high speeds (which will make you consume as much fuel as you would with the aircon on). Flow through ventilation during late night/early morning drives is quite ideal.

Nagbibiruan kami sa starex ni misis na pumick up ng passengers along the way or pag napadaan sa baclaran pag pauwi pandagdag sa gas or toll gate man lang...hahaha! pero i wouldnt do that...mahirap na...hehe!

About the saving of gas with the aircon off, mukhang gagawin ko nga po yan...hahaha!

Siguro sir practice na lang ako without the egg...tamad ako maglinis eh and for sure mababasag...hahaha!

    Maraming salamat po ulit!

That's the point! OK yan tumakbo ng gabi na naka flow through vent tapos naka tilt yung moonroof, as long as there is no traffic. I try to keep a more or less constant temperature in the cabin. Yung aircon ng Escape, given that it is in good condition, ay NAPAKALAMIG. Given that hindi mainit sa labas at lalo na sa gabi, the cabin would turn into a blizzard if you kept the aircon on all the time (full sa thermostat and lowest fan setting).

It was just shared to me by a relative na sumali sa isang driving seminar on how to get better gas mileage. And one of the activities the instructor did was to tie an egg below the accelerator so that you will learn to always feather the throttle.

mabigat din paa ko, sir. Although nung nag driving lesson ako wayback, tinuro sakin pano tumapak ng pedal, ng gas or break.

Just a little update, fellow tsikoteers..hehe! i am now on the hund and looking for Escape na 2.3L...gusto ni misis color red...hahaha! pag Tribute white color daw. I can stretch my budget to 350k...basta siguro ma-ssure lang na nasa top condition. Mas maigi sana kung mababa pa ng konte para may matirang budget for check-up sana since plano ko ipasok sa casa for check up.

    http://www.**************/index.php/...Escape+XLS+4x2

    http://www.**************/index.php/...Tribute+2+3L+A

Marami nagsasabi sakin to bring a mechanic for checking, kaso, wala naman ako kilalang mekaniko na malapit dito sakin. So baka ako mag-isa na lang mag check. Baka po may maibigay kayo sa'kin na tips and advices kung ano dapat ko i-check and siguraduhin na maayos.

Thank you very much po ulit

Why should i consider Ford Escape (2nd hand) Please help to decide.
