We've decided that the car my in-laws are using will be sold since it's turned into a money pit. We are now looking for a new vehicle replacement but what could we get for the budget of 500K-600K? Most of the time the vehicle will have my sister-in-law and mother-in-law as passengers with maybe a 3 year old child. Occasionally when we visit the Philippines it will have my family of three added to that so a 7 seater isn't a requirement. A used vehicle will be considered only if we know the previous owner and can verify maintenance history of the vehicle, so it is likely that we're looking at a new vehicle. Any suggestions?

I am not in the Philippines so you'll have to be more specific than sedan. What brand models are available at the price range?

I'm not sure about the reliability of this site, but it'll give a rough estimate on the real prices.

Given your Php 500-600K budget and inclination to go for a brand new unit.... I vote for the 2007 Toyota Vios 1.3 J M/T (In the US, its called the Yaris sedan). Price is Php 575,000.00 for the unit itself. Its only notable safety feature is a driver side front airbag, which is a first for a sub compact at this price point.
If you can stretch your budget further by Php 49K, then I recommended you get the Vios 1.3E M/T. In addition to the safety feature in the J variant, it comes with ABS w/ EBD, 14" Alloy wheels, TVSS, remote key fob, 2 din CD w/ MP3, etc....
Btw, you can have access to the prices as well as browse through the various models for each brand by simply going to their respective websites.

*kimpoy- So a used Patrol is available at that price? Would that be one in fairly good condition? The users will be female and since I am the only guy in the family and I am not in the Philippines it needs to be reliable and low maintenance. I considered the Jimny but it's over budget.
*lui- you have a pm.
*number001-Some of the sites don't have updated prices, I checked before posting.

Hybrid is the way to go. So you don't rely heavily on the batteries.
