pero dahil MU-X at RUSH pinagpipilian, i might go for the MU-X. Malaki na, diesel pa. pwede nang pang harabas. Sa 30k per year mileage average, kayang kaya niya.

Plano ko nga ipa bullet proof etong MuX ko pag tumagal sakin ng more than 15 years, wala lang trip lang kasi by that time mgs 50 something na ako, syempre dapat naka bullet proof diba, pero syempre by that time nakuha ko na din ang dream car ko na LC200. Labo no yun MUx naka bullet proof pero Lc hinde, eh yun lang kaya ng budget eh.
Mga taxi sa Baguio halos puro Innova. Napapansin ko halos lahat sila nakalift ng konti. Taller springs perhaps? But still does not stop them from buying, meaning pasado na sa kanila ang height. This is also worth considering since you get more interior space than the Fortuner, with the same platform and an even better engine than the 4x2 Fortuner, with lesser maintenance cost in the form of much cheaper tires, which should be quite significant for you since you plan to rack up lots of mileage quickly.
Between the two, MUX na ako. Won't expect the Rush to do better than 7km/L, P10-12/L more expensive pa ang gasolina. The MUX 1.9 will surely do better than 7km/L, with potential to double, or even triple in highway driving, with fuel that is P10-12/L cheaper. Routine maintenance cost difference will not be as significant since it is done only once every few months at most. Though the RZ4E is a relatively new engine, since the MUX/D-Max are volume sellers, I would expect that by the time it retires to the province, mechanics would already be very familiar with it.

Between his choices, im partial to the rush doc. Diesels are indeed built more robustly, not because they want to make them tougher, but as you said, because the design parameters warrants it i.e. higher pressures and temps. Of course a gasoline engine could be built heavier but to what end - when it is not required. May penalty pa sa weight if ever so liability pa. Bottomline for me, engines are designed for the intended purpose, so one is not inherently tougher just because - diesel.
My 2c.
Rush wins hands down sa safety. If the TS intends to transport his family regularly at highway speeds (deducing from the 30k annually he expects to travel..i dont think city driving yan), then the added airbags are a boon. Kung mag.isa lang lagi, di issue ito since may driver airbag naman both vehicles. May abs ba ang base model mux? Wala ata iirc.
Both vehicles are built very similarly. Rwd. Independent front, solid rear axles. Coil suspension. High ground clearance. 7 seats. Etc. Major difference is the powerplant. The nr-series engine of the rush is no slouch naman kung tibay lang. Timing chain na din naman. The rz4e is heavily dependent on the turbo, and the higher pressures and temps mentioned above takes its toll in the long run. Spark plugs are definitely more cheaper than injectors if they need replacing. The simpler gas engine would be easier to maintain a decade or more down the line imho.
Power to weight, it favors the rush. 104ps. 136nm. 1150 kg...yung mux 150ps. 350nm. 2650kg. That's more than double the weight, but with only 40+ps more. Diesel has, of course, more pull. And since you have to rev the gas engine to get the power, it feels more 'anemic' despite probably very close acceleration numbers. When fully loaded though, the rush would certainly 'feel' it more since the added 300-400kg is 1)already 1/3 of its weight and 2)lower torque. If personal car (hindi naman siguri to school bus or uv express na 7 pax all the time), di major factor yan. Otherwise, wise option ang mux kung loaded lagi because of the extra torque.
Then the elephant in the room, cost. 300k outright difference. If he chooses to finance it, roughly the same difference. One kind tsikiteer computed for us na break even siguro more or less 3-5yrs assuming the TS didn't overestimate his 20-30k annual kms. Less mileage favors the rush. More use favors the diesel mux.

Rush, 8.2 Km/Liter pinaka mababa ko. About 14++ Km/Liter sa TPLEX. Where do you guys getting the 6 Km/L? I can't comment on Mu-X because I haven't driven one.
Pero I have the impression na work-horse ang mga Diesel. Depende na siguro sa lifestyle na gusto ninyo.
In your 8.2km/l and 14++ km/l, what were the average speeds for both situations? Digital readout or full tank method din ba yung consumption na sinabi mo?
You might not be getting the usual manila city traffic conditions of 12kmph average on a tank of gas. You might be above 20kmph to get 8.2km/l.
Taytay Rizal to Eastwood. Somewhere 8.2++ Km/L about 20 Km/H speed.
Taytay to Baguio via NLEX SCTEX TPLEX. 14++ Km/L about 120 Km/H speed (But 90-100 mostly)

Taytay to La Union about 14++ Km/L pero when I check in Baguio, it went down to 10 Km/L average. I rely only on the readings doon sa dashboard.
Yup. It is a different average speed on your side. Higher than normal. Manila traffic. Assumptiom is usually 12 kmph to a max of 15kmph.
Also, digital readout, my experience, multiply that by 95% to get somewhat close to full tank method, worst case is 90%.
I wouldnt just trust digital readout, i prefer to validate with full tank method.
If the rush wasn't fitted with a 4speed a/t, it might have a slightly better city fc, but may complicate it mechanically down the line.
Mga Sir. Maraming maraming salamat sa mga replies ninyong lahat. Hindi ko na ma rereplayan isa isa, pero nabasa ko lahat. Very busy lang this past few days kaya hindi na din nakapag online.
Just to give an update, may sinalo muna akong Wigo from a relative din. Mukhang okay naman, pero bukas ko to ma tetest talaga kapag dinala ko sa Tarlac. As for my usage po pala, I travel 5 days a week (kahit coding hehe), from Las Pinas to Ortigas. Then on weekends, Las Pinas to Tarlac. 2 persons lang po yung sakay when we travel on NLEX. Walang balak mag baby hehe. I wanted to get a new car sana para maging extra car nalang tong gamit namin ngayon, and at the same time, hindi ko na kailangan bumyahe ng maaga and umuwi ng late kapag coding.
As for the Wigo, thankfully hindi siya sumasayad sa matataas na humps kaya may confidence akong gamitin kahit papano. Kayalang, for some reasons nahihilo akong idrive to kahit very chill lang naman po ako mag drive lagi. Also, feel ko pagod ako sa byahe kapag eto yung ginagamit ko.
As for getting a new car, probably not now na muna pala hehe. I will try using the Wigo for long drive bukas. Never really thought of it before, but this might be the right car for us kesa gumastos pa ng malaki for a new one.

Nakakahilo? Sobrang taas siguro ang tire pressure? For as long as you feel at home with the car, araw araw mo pa naman gagamitin. Though for something that racks up highway mileage a lot, I would have preferred something with a bit more power. [emoji28]

^apply trigonometry by measuring the actual ground clearance of the front bumper (opposite) and the distance from the front tire to the frontal edge of the bumper (adjacent)..that will be the tangent of angle theta (opposite over adjacent)
